Wipers will not turn off 2006 Adventurer 38J

On my 2nd long road trip across country in a previously driven Advennturer, suddenly near the end of the trip, the windshield wipers will not shut of. I have tried every wiggle and jiggle I could think of and chant or two but it keeps on wiping intermittantly. I had to pull the wiper fuse to get it to finally quit. Has anybody else ever had to change out that control arm?

I had this happen on my 2004 Adventurer W22 a number of years ago. Searched a bit. Lots hits on the issue. Cleaned all connections under hood and applied dielectric grease. I ended up replacing the wiper control module under flip up dash. Just a thought.

The original module was PN# W0002648. This was replaced by W0007967. Since the problem hasn’t returned. The part was over $150 if I recall.

When it happened to me I was in heavy traffic. Can’t recall exactly but something like turning on parking lights stopped the problem at the moment. Been so long ago.

There is probably more than one cause for this problem.

First point, dielectric grease is an electrical insulator. Keep that [mod edit] off of any electrical contact/terminal/etc.

I had a similar problem with my MH. Whenever it rained, the wipers would refuse to turn off. My fix was to use zip ties to pull the wiper motor connector up as far as possible out of the way of any water spray. It has been "fixed" for several years now.

I had first tried cleaning the contacts and sealing the connector without any success.

Since this is a chassis issue, you might want to post your inquiry on Winnieowners' sister site, Irv2.com's Workhorse chassis forum:
