What is This - Jacking System??

Hi All,

I believe I know the answer but to be certain - I thought I should ask the experts - is this the control panel for the jacking system?:

Please note there is an oily grime on the unit.....I believe that would be hydraullic fluid - most likely from the jacks going up and down.

I will pull the step cover and look at the units located above and behind this unit. I believe these are the pumps:

So if I am correct - what is involved in fixing a leaky pump?

Thanks for your advice
Dennis

You have neglected to mention the year or model of your RV. We'd love to help you, but every RV is different so without that info there is no way.

Most of us put that info in our Signature in our Profile, then we don't have to remember to add it. You can see mine below.

Here's how to do that:

That looks like a HWH 6xx system to me. If so, yes, that is the control box for the jacks AND the slides. Do you have 4 jacks, AND 2-3 slides? That picture looks like the hydraulic valves. The motor (singular) pumps the fluid around and it's attached to the manifold where those valves are. The valves guide the fluid to where it's supposed to go.

Those boxes are outside and way over designed to my professional eye for the simple job they do. But know that there is a member here on this forum that's an HWH expert, he works for them. And he can help you figure out what's wrong with yours. It could be a solenoid leak or a leak at the manifold which is near that box.

He helped my friend when her's went bad. The shops all wanted a couple thousand to replace that box and he had her send it to the HWH repair shop who fixed it for her for under $100. And she was in Mexico at the time. He diagnosed it via emails.

Your problem might not be the box though. Not with fluid all over the place.

What was his name!! I can't remember. Someone will come by who does though.

I believe the person is using the name "Arizona Pete" if I remember correct.
But as a far less qualified person, I might suggest the first step on sorting out a leak is to find WHERE it is leaking by cleaning the thing pretty much , verify that the unit has good fluid level and then work it up and down a few times to see if you can spot the new red fluid showing on the cleaned metal parts.
Just a second idea, leaks are many times from something being just a bit loose, so that fluid oozes out and it may not take much more than finding which joint and giving that some work?? Yes, it might be the pump or a major part but there are lots of hoses, solenoids and such which can also get loose.
There should be a somewhat smallish motor and the things like pictured with wires are often the solenoids which the electronics make control the fluid flow.
A look online for HWH may give you some good info.

Yes, I have been working with Paul Maddox - he is simply awesome. He figured out the issue and it cost me all of $0.15 - a new o-ring.

In addition - Paul wants HWH owners to give him a call if you got an issue.
