I purchased a 2007 Sunova 35J - I noticed the storage bay under the passenger sild slide is getting wet. I have an apointment to bring it in for service. Anyone experience a similar problem / and what was the fix. My concern is that this gets fixed- I plan to keep the MH for at least 5 years. I purchased from a Florida dea had it shipped to NJ so it was somthing I noticed after I had it home.

On my '03 Ultimate, it took about 3 years to discover the problem had two parts. 1 - water was running down the inside of the side seals, and then across the bottom seal until it dripped out onto the top of the StoreMore compartment. 2 - Water on top of the storage compartment box was getting into the storage compartments. I took the rig to three different dealers, all the while emailing with Winnebago Owner Relations. The third dealer totally removed the StoreMore compartment from the coach, sealed it, and re-installted it on the coach. I tested it by spraying water on top of the box and founc there was still a small leak (with water pouring out of the door activated light switch) which they were then able to fix. After than I had a short in the door activated light switch. I disconnected the switch to cure the problem.

The third dealer kept telling me "we put our smoke machine inside the compartment and no smoke is getting out." ...and I kept telliing them "My problem is not with smoke getting out of the compartment ...my problem is with water getting in."

I recommend you talk with Winnebago Owner Relations via telephone or email to document the problem, then see if they can get you with a dealer who can resolve it.

Do double check to make sure the doors are fully latched too.

Paul thanks for the advice
I did call Winnebago to document the problem - I'm sure it will take more than one try to correct.

Y-Guy - I make sure I push in the sides of each door
although I wonder how lined up they are -
PS nice ATV's - I want to get one for my 6yr old son but the boss is giving me a hard time

Please keep us posted on what you find out. I've only had mine out once, did find the driver side a bit wet but when I saw one door with the front lip open a bit I figured that's how it got wet.

We've been riding for 2 years, when our youngest was 7. We really enjoy it, and its helped our kids a great deal to learn responsibility, plus we love riding as a family!

Family Bus, I have the same unit and nearly the same problem except that its my drivers side storage compartment, the large one that goes out with the slide room, is getting wet inside.
I noticed this after I brought the unit home from the dealer (mid Dec. 2006). It did rain that day. Also took the MH out New Years Eve and it was raining again and the inside was wet again The doors are latched fully, so I know thats not the problem. I think it may be coming in from the underside (road spray). I have not made an appointment with my dealer yet as I still need to take the unit on a shake down trip, then I will get any other issues taking care of at the same time.

I had the same problem and found it. Believe it or else, a single drop of water would ooze out of the cold water faucet inlet under the kitchen sink. Then it would travel about 3 feet and move on to the hot water line and move another 3 feet. Then it dripped onto the floor and through a wiring harness into the compartment dome light. The fix was a quarter turn with an adjustable wrench and it's been dry ever since. To discover it, I had to remove all of the drawers, all of the tracks, and all of the plywood backing to which the tracks were attached. Moral of this story - check under your sink.
Hope it helps,
Larry

Humm seems to be a pattern here. I picked up the MH today to get our new 16' ATV trailer. Started packing and found the driver side compartment had dew on the ceiling, inside doors were damp and smelled musty. I pulled everything out and put in a space heater, figure I'll leave it running for a few hours. Going to head out still, but will be taking it to the dealer to find out what's wrong.

We had the same problem on our Bounder. On ours, it turned out to be the outside electrical boxes. (Was happening on both sides of ours) Removed the boxes and sealed around the cut-out and all was fine.

I have 2006 Sightseer and experienced leaks in two exterior compartments. The forward compartments leaked when the slide was open only, which was caused by water to puddle on top of the compartment and leak in at the grommets located on top at each corner. The rear compartment leaked because of the bed room slide gaskets were leaking causing water to enter the lower compartment. Don't expect the dealer to find the leaks because they will not spend the time. I hope this will help you

Had the same issue with the driver's side compartment behind the front tire. Water from the road or my washing would settle on top of the compartment at the weld seam in the corner. A real close look showed the black sealer at the weld did not cover the entire weld. So I reached in with a tube of black silicone and re-sealed the weld in the corner and no more leaks.

Hello all,

Just packing up the MH for the weekend and found the same issue on ours. Everything in the big slide compartment was wet and grossly covered w/ mold. Did any of you with the sightseer 34J find the reason? We are headed to Florida next week for spring break and for now I just dried it out and put everything in totes.
Any answers?

thanks in advance!

Barbara

In my rv at the top of the storage bay it has a plastic cutout with a "grommet" filler that was leaking. Water was sitting on top of the storage bay (slide storage side)and then getting into the storage bay only during travel with wet weather. I used heat tape over it to stop the leak. Good luck.
