Smile weight of 2003 Journey 39?

Hi there,
Has anyone weighed their 2003 Journey DL 39?

Just buying the unit (upgrading from C class to our first classA!!) and trying to figure out if it is under the weight restriction of 24,250 lbs for our regular drivers license. In Ontario anything over this weight requires a D class license.

Any help would be appreciated for us newbies! Thanks!

As a reference, my 39K gross weight is 27,910. Combined gross if towing is 37,910.

Hi , and welcome to the forum, I would guess that any pusher would be over the weight limit , and that the license requirement is to get you to pass testing , with regard to " Air Brake systems operation & maintenance " , in B.C. law requires that you pass this testing to hold valid insurance on any coach, with air brakes.
Good luck and Safe Travels

My 2004 39K weighed in at 26490 pounds. That was 9640 on the front axle and 16850 on the rear. The 39K has three slides and some of the other 39 Journeys have two slides and presumably would be a bit lighter.

More info

Thanks to all the replies. Some more details, our coach is a 39QD and has 2 slides, so i am thinking that the gross vehicle weight will be pretty close to the cutt-off.

If you are referring to the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) your coach is well above 24,250 at 27,910. If you are referring to the unloaded vehicle weight you would be below but I doubt that is the weight you are seeking. Most municipalities want the manufacturers numbers not something you got at the scale.

Here's the brochure for the 2003 Journey DL and you can see that as stated by Navy Flier, your GVWR is 27,910 lbs.

prices on 2003 journeys

Hi there,
We just bought ours recently and have been shopping around for a while. It really depends on condition, full body paint, mileage etc. But the good ones range quite a bit we have seen anywhere from $79,000-$99,000.

Last year, after fueling, with empty black/gray tanks and less than half tank of fresh, we came off the CAT scale showing 8600 in front, 16,580 in rear, total of 25,160. That's with the carpet replaced with tile, and food and clothing for a six week trip. We love our Journey, just completed five months living/working aboard and can't wait to get going again. Survey it, buy it, enjoy it....life is short

We are getting about 8 MPG averaged over about 10k miles this year in our 05 39k. We cruise at about 60 on the highway.

Fuel Mileage

14,000 miles in the last eighteen months...from Florida through the Rockies and back....8.2 MPG.....and we wouldn't care if it only went 5 miles on a gallon, it's better mileage than a 39 foot boat and more fun than sitting at home.

I've put over 30K miles on my 39K in the last couple of years and tracked every gallon of fuel. The average is 7.8 mpg but not corrected for the amount of diesel the generator uses.
