Question Water heater location on 99 39Y Vectra Grandprix

I am new to RVing and this is my first one.
This vehicle has been used as a permanent residence in north eastern Florida.
The prior owner has not done regular maintenance such as regular generator runs, water heater maintenance etc.. I’ve got the ginny taken care of and next
project is plumbing/heating. I see the outside exhaust grates but can’t figure
out how to get to the actual devices. Any suggestions? It’s built one a Chevy P12 chassis.

I tried to find a picture of the outside of the coach but was not able to get a good look. Is the exhaust grate just infront of the rear tire? If so is that a bay door or a screwed in panel? Behind the door or panel is another door with a thumb latch on the top (I believe) its easy to figure that out. Once you open that door you will see all the operating parts of the water heater.
Hope this helps

Without a photo we can’t tell what you are looking at. If it’s two 3” round exhaust grates that is the LP Furnace not the water heater.

The water heater exhaust is a rectangle approximately 6” long by 4” tall. The water heater is always much easier to access than the furnace.

If found a photo of your coach. As Be Happy said, It is behind a panel in front of the rear wheel on the passenger side. There are probably a few screws at the bottom of the panel and then it hinges at the top. Lift that panel and you’ll find a standard water heater door with a small latch.

I found four screws holding the bottom of the panel and once removed and panel lifted, I saw exactly what you described. Once cover was removed I now have full access to the maintenance access!

I’ll add some pictures in a little bit for future reference for others

Yeah, that's exactly how it works on my 2017 Adverturer, as well.

Don't take this as gospel but it looks like a Suburban brand hot water heater not an Atwood.

Well, I say that, but what I really mean is that it doesn't look like a modern day Atwood HWH and I'm assuming that WBGO only used Suburban HWHs on earlier model RVs.

So, in other words you can't trust anything above as being accurate.
