I agree, nice setup! I may end up doing something like that and appreciate the photo!

Does anyone have a Safe-T Plus (steering control) installed on their 26HE? If so, can you tell me what model and install kit was used? I am getting conflicting information as to whether it should be 41-140 or 41-180, and the install kit of F-119K2 or F-119K2.5. I spoke to a representative from the company and she indicated it should be 41-140 with an install kit of F-119K2.5. Just does not add up with what they have on-line. Thanks

John I have the safe-t-plus on my 2013 26he and I have the 41-180 and F119k2.5 that's what the online called for I did have a chance to talk to the company and they said the 41-140 was all that was necessary and that the 41-180 was overkill but she did say the 41-180 would work

Thanks Richard for the quick response. How do you like it? Any concerns or drawbacks?

John I like how it keeps the steering straight it was a easy install no concerns or drawbacks if you do the install yourself you will need another person to help with the final adjustments

Thanks Richard... I am going with the same setup (41-180 with the F119K2.5). Camping World has them on sale with a $50 install. I also had a 10% off coupon for one item, so the coupon will basically pay for the install. They have to order the install bracket. Should take about one week for the part.

A $50 install is well worth it

I had the Safe-T Plus steering stabilizer installed on my motorhome at Camping World today. Mechanic seemed to do a good job. Steering seems to have improved, but I did not take it on the freeway. Will test it in about a month. Mechanic and shop supervisor both said my steering wheel has too much play (need to turn the steering wheel more than I should for the motorhome to respond). They recommended I have it looked at. I have a great Ford mechanic who works on my motorhome. He has driven my motorhome and said nothing about this, but I will ask him about it. Pictures below show the installation. View is from behind the front wheels looking forward.

Hi guys. Read about putting the surge protector in the service bay. Did that on our Vista. Got tired trying to fit everything in the floor of the service bay. I used those Velcro style hangers they use to hang pictures on walls. You know the ones you can remove and they leave no mark on the wall. Well I found these to be very sturdy for pictures. So I used 6 to hold the portable surge protector to the service panel. To help keep ti secure I fashioned a hook out of wire (good size coat hanger) to take some of the strain off the plug area. It worked well this summer. So now I'm thinking I will shorten the coach cable down to 3-4 feet so it nicely reaches the surge box, then use the left over, with a new plug, to go from the surge box to shore power. ID:	118984. An unplanned bonus was not having to run 20' of power cable through the floor hatch, now I just need to push 2' up the hold and I'm done. Also coiling the cable after is a breeze sine one end is not attached to the Vista.

We do not have the Safety Steer or any steering damper.

Instead we put the Trac bar on the suspension (mentioned earlier in this thread) and that stops the front from swinging from crosswinds or passing trucks.

It has made a truly impressive difference. It handles like an SUV now, and crosswinds that used to keep us off the roads are now hardly noticeable to the steering. The winds may shake the vehicle, but it stays straight in the lane. It never jumps sideways and almost out of the lane as our 26HE used to do. Quite easy to drive now.

Did you put that rear Trac Bar on yourself or have someone do it?

We ordered the UltraRv Trac bar and had it delivered, and then we had them install it at the Camping World in Rogers, MN, outside the Twin Cities.

I did not notice the loose in the steering until I had a rear Trackbar and the Safe-T-Plus installed.
Now that the MH goes straight, the looseness is noticeable and bothers me. I can turn the steering wheel about 20 degrees without any response.
I was told by an alignment shop that it is normal... but I have my doubts...

Keep us informed on your findings / solution.

I just had my steering looked at by my Ford mechanic last Friday. After my Safe-T Plus was installed (about a week ago), the Camping World mechanic made a comment about the loose steering. My Ford mechanic drove the motorhome and believes it is normal. He said he would not mess with it. If we were to try and adjust the steering, it did not sound like an easy process. He said the newer motorhomes have some type of memory steering. I didn't ask him to elaborate any further. He has driven my motorhome before, so I am confident he knows what he is talking about and he would have adjusted the steering if he believed it was an issue.

My mechanic added how much of a difference there was driving the motorhome with the Safe-T Plus installed. He said they (Ford Dealership) have not had much luck with them, but was impressed with the way the motorhome handled. I guess that is the difference when you have someone from Camping World, who probably installs steering stabilizers on a daily basis, install this type of device. I'm sure they have learned little tricks due to the numerous installs to dial them in accurately.

Has anyone looked into adding additional deep cycle house batteries to their coach? Currently I have two Trojan 105 6-volt batteries. I would like to add two more batteries, but I can't use the outside compartment next to the entry door because my inverter is there.

Any input would be appreciated.

There are posts of how 4 batteries were added into the battery compartment. Check out the stickies in the Winnebago forum. Thinking of it myself!

Hey Al,

If I am smart, I'll wait for you to do it first then ask how you did it...

Thanks for the link.
