Vista 29VE Water Leakage

I have a 2018 Vista 29VE. About a week or so ago, we had heavy downpours. A water leak developed and there was substantial dripping inside at the very front near the middle of the windshield. After the rain, I went up top and all looked okay. To be safe I used a tube of Dicor on the seam where the front cap joins the roof. All dry since then.

Now yesterday I’m chatting with someone at a campground who has a 2020 29VE. He was asking about problems and upgrades I’ve done. He then tells me how he was concerned because of a water leak he just experienced. He described the exact same leak in the same location!

Based on that, I’m wondering if it was just coincidence or whether there is a leakage issue common to the 29VE? Anybody?

The front cap / fiberglass roof seam is a issue for sure. I used Eternabond tape on mine since it's not visible from the ground.

However, I found, and a lot of others have too, that the roof radius on the sides at the end of the drip rail is a common failure point. It can leak in there on the radius and then travel around the front of the windshield, too. On mine, I found the factory caulking at the radius/drip rail had cracked and opened a hole that let water travel down the gutter and right into the interior behind the front cabinets.

We have had a number of recent posts about that here. I'll put a link below.

By the way, Dicor is acknowledged as the wrong sealant. Winnebago used Manus Bond 75-AM for years but now some professionals are saying Proflex Urethane or NuFlex 311 Silicone is the right stuff to use - though some say Nuflex 640 Thermoplastic or Stone Mason Gutter and Siding Sealant.

There is a guy on YouTube that has done a lot of these resealing jobs and you can get a lot of info from him.

Thanks for the tips. Particularly the drip rail area. I knew Dicor isn’t spec but I had a tube and figured it couldn’t hurt while on the road. I’ll pull it off and redo when I get home. Thanks again.
