toilet seat keeps coming loose!

We have a 2007 Journey 34h and the toilet seat on our china bowl toilet keeps coming loose...the toilet is very close to the wall so I have to remove it to replace the plastic bolts that hold the seat on.( can't reach the nuts under the rear of the toilet) Anyone else encounter this problem? How do you fix it so the bolts don't loosen? Thanks in advance, Karl.

How about a little Loctite on the threads next time you tighten it up?

If you do use Loctite, be sure to use the Blue (removable) version. The Red (permanent) version is called permanent for good reason!

Buy new bolts that have a screw driver slot on the head. All you need to do then is stabilize the nut on the bottom and use a screwdriver to tighten it down.

You may want to check the seat itself. I have found that the little feet that touch the bowl if fact did not. As both did not touch at the same time this caused a side ways motion when sitting. Depending on the seat you can get replacement feet or go and buy a new seat. Make sure you have measurements of the bowl to get the correct seat. As for the tightening of the bolts as said before get bolts with screwdriver head.

I do have the screws with a Phillips head for a screwdriver and I will remove the toilet and see if there is anything wrong with the way the seat fits on the base. I am not sure about using locktite with nylon/plastic screws, don't think it will stick to them well enough to do the job....maybe I can find some brass/metal screws? This is a new toilet that was replaced by Camping World only six months ago...The toilet seat is new as well.
I will report after I get the toilet out to see if I can find something wrong...Thanks for all the input...Karl.

Well, I went to Lowes hardware and found some new plastic bolts that seem to have tighter fitting threads...put them on and replaced the toilet...will have to wait to see if this fixes my problem. I also used the original plastic washers that go between the plastic nuts and the body of the toilet...they seem to conform to the shape of the hole better.

I had the same problem with with my 2007 Journey. I wound up buying a commercial toilet seat that was guaranteed to stay put. It worked out very well for me.
You can find these either in your local Big Box hardware store or online. Look for a seat that says never loosen.
This assumes, of course that you can still get the old seat off.

So you are having to fix a warrant-able issue on a poor job done by Camping World when installing an After Market Toilet in your Motor Home? Why isn't Camping World making their failed installation right?

I installed the comfort height china toilet in my Adventurer 10 years ago personally and so far the seat is still on nice and solid just the way it was the day I installed it. I chose one with good access to the back side of the seat bolts so I won't have to remove the toilet to replace the seat.

You could also try using teflon tape on the threads. If you don't want to use loctite on the threads.

i have tried to replace the toilet seats in my rig but have not found any that fit. you said commercial seats fit correctly, right. where do you get them I have never seen them before. my heads are also china.
