The Gas Nosile at some stations does not fit my Voyage.

This has happened to me a few times before , but never when I actually could not buy the gasoline. I have a 2008 Winnebago Voyage. The Voyage has the "full side slide". The gas tank fill is also on the same side as the slide....might be a bad idea. When I go to insert the gas nosile at some gas stations its a tough fit because of the over hang of the slide above the gas fill. I have had to twist and turn and so on before and I eventually get the gas. Yesterday I went to Costo and found that no matter what I did I could not fill my tank. The nosile does not go down far enough so it keeps shutting off. I can not get the nosile in any further because the handle is hitting the slide bottom. Has anyone heard of this happening? Crazy...I had to leave and get gas at another gas station.

Yes - have similar problems with my Suncruiser. Was able to manipulate it to finally get it in the hole but succeeded after much effort!!

I'm not sure what your fuel tank fill looks like, but would it be possible to get to the back side of the body and loosen the clamp holding the steel fuel fill neck to the 2 inch fuel hose and then move the fuel fill neck out maybe an inch or so?

I will take a look and see, it might be the answer. I was surprised to see the same issue on Toms's motor home "2007 Itasca Suncruiser 35L" that means its not a new issue and it looks like nothing has been done to correct.

We ran into a similar problem for the first time yesterday! We're not sure if it's the slide bottom that's the problem or the depth of the "box" the nozzle has to fit into. It's pretty deep, which can make it tough make a "short" nozzle work. Definitely less than stellar design!

We solicited help at a Chevron station yesterday...the attendant was able to make it go.

How do you like the Voyage, my wife and I love ours. Have you had any issues? I have had a couple, nothing too bad.

Yes I too have the same problem with my 07 Adventurer. My slide does not effect the fuel filler, but a trim piece is is just above the filler and the angle of the tube is steep and when a nozzle is put in the filler the top piece of the nozzle hits the trim piece and the angle of the fit if off. Result is the gas nozzle does not go into the fuel filler tube all the way correctly and will not work. Winnebago service tech that I talk too said to me that the coach is not at fault. I would disagree.

I have run into this nozzle issue in lots of places. All nozzles are not designed the same, there is a great number of different designs and I think Winnebago should have a fuel filler design that would fit all makes an models. But they do not. So a retro fix is something I would like to see Winnebago come up with, but I also think this would never happen.

My advice....never go down to empty. Leave a very large reserve of fuel so you can get to the next gas station and try their fuel nozzle for a fit. I know this is a pain, but I have done this more than just a few time.

Ya know hind sight being 20/20 I really think it's the particular gas station hose filler that is too short as the main problem. On our latest trip out west I can only recall 2 places where we had that problem.

Now - should we have had the problem at all - I think not - as previously stated - it should have been addressed by Winnie a while ago.

Wow...so Winnebago said not a Winnebago issue. I hope the style of these gas nosiles that are doing this are not the new and up and coming models or we have a problem. I am surprised that after all I hear about Winnebago that they would not put in a fix for this.

My first reaction when reading about this problem was to think of a way to design a fuel nozzle extension of some type that you can carry with you ...if this is even legal.

I was imagining a plastic or metal extension that you could slip over the end of the nozzle and lightly tighten. The end of the extension would have to fit the filler opening of course. When done fueling, take it off and store it somewhere in the motorhome and take it with you.

Would that work?

you could just manually hold the rubber sleeve of the nozzle back .......so its scrunched up....thats what keeps the gas from coming out or not. This is what I do when I have to fill up gas cans.

It's a pain & you shouldn't have to do it but will work if you really need gas.

The nozzels I am talking about don't even have the safety rubbers you have in California. The nozzel length is just short.

Amanda you may have something to think about with you little adapter......hmmmmmm?

We absolutely love our new Voyage. This nozzle problem is a minor irritation...and clearly a design flaw...regardless of what Winnebago says.

California Air Resources Board has mandated that the new Healy nozzles must be in place by April, 2009 or the gas station will have to stop selling gas. Since Winnebago won't help, I modified my filler neck by moving the whole assembly down one inch. Now it fills just fine.
