Nor sure how your taillights compare to those on our 2005 Adventurer, but removal of ours requires a very long thin philips head screwdriver. The screws are small and located in the small space between the light's lens and the body of the motorhome. It really took some looking to find them.

2001 is different than 2005.

This thread may help

It says the lenses pop off. Then the lights unscrew.

As you probably found out they are pretty much standard surface mount rectangular trailer lights with pop-off lenses and the mounting screws are accessed once you release the tabs and pop the lenses off which can be difficult due to the way they recessed the housing in the fiberglass surrounds. They are basically held in place with several wood screws.

Be careful not to put hotter bulbs in since the lenses can start to melt and distort from the extra heat.
