We currently have a 2003 Suncruiser 32V which we bought with the intention of keeping FOREVER - before we had our two boys aged 3 and 1. Now we see that Class A's are appearing with bunks and we seemed to have developed an itch - funny how that happens.
We viewed a Danon Daybreak with bunks but the Itasca version has yet to ship. Has anybody seen either the Sunova or Sightseer yet, or any of the other bunk coaches for that matter? If so, what are your thoughts?

Here is a thread on Class A rigs with bunks. I recall in reading the thread that Winnebago and National both make bunk units.
We're in a similar situation having moved from a class C to the class A a couple years ago, but really could use bunks. We travel with our 3 kids and it's obvious many class A's are not designed for families.

Thanks for the info. We love our motorhome but making up the dinette into a bed every night then sitting in our bedroom all evening so the kids can sleep is not so much fun! Fortunately, the 1 year old is still in a porta-crib. Bunks sure would make things easier, especially once they're a little older. Where do your three kids sleep?

Newmar Allstar is based on the mid engine Spartan chassis which gives you a bi-level bedroom in the rear....bunks on upper level, queen bed on lower level. There was a recent review in either Motorhome or FMCA mag....can't remember which just now.
Apparently, several manufacturers will soon announce their use of the new Workhorse UFO rear engine gas/diesel chassis, including Winnebago. Perhaps there will be more bunk options with these new coaches.

Yes, I saw a Sightseer with bunk beds at the FL Winnie Gators rally this past weekend in Sarasota, FL. I believe the dealer was RV World of Nokomis. Look like a nice floor plan if you have kids.

Thanks for replying. Can you remember whether the bottom bunk had drawers or anything beneath it, or whether it was low to the ground? We'd like low bunks where our children are so small (4 and 2 years next season)

I've just looked on the Newmar website - the All Star certainly looks interesting. Any idea what the sticker price is?

Shazza,
I looked at the Sunova 35J at the Pamona RV show last week. It had had one large or two smaller drawers below the bottom bunk (can't remember exactly, looked at most of the bunk class A's). Each bunk has an optional video screen that folds down from above like in many autos now. I thought the Winnebago bunk units (Sunova/ Sightseer)were the best of the bunch. The National was second, forgot the model #. IMHO the downside to the Allstar bunk unit was the layout of the master bedroom, ceiling height, type of TV, as well as much higher price.

There was a drawer below the bottom bunk. I would say the top bunk was somewhere around 4 off the floor (I am 5' 11' and the top bunk was chest high).

Found the review...it was the July 06 issue of FMCA mag if you can get your hands on one. MSRP was $214K.
