Stop engine light
Have a winniebago journey 36 with 300 ho diesel Cummins. Started to let run a bit since it has been so cold here. Did same last week and ran perfectly with no light. Today the check engine light came on and the stop engine red light came on also. I stop engine any idea what has happened?

For your 2005 Journey with the Cummins Diesel, it may mean low oil, low coolant, a bad fuel pump, or a plugged fuel filter. Have you ever added an anti-fungicide to your fuel? Were there any leaks under the vehicle? Did you check for evidence of rodents chewing your wiring? It seems prudent to get a code reader on your vehicle at this time.

Is it cold enough for fuel gelling?

I have found that when I want to start my cummins in cold temps I start the generator first, and turn the block heater on to warm the engine up. Since I have the Blue Fire I can monitor the temo of the engine coolant and wait till is it above 40 to start the big noise maker.

Stop Engine Light
I’ve seen this about a year ago on our 2004 Journey 32T with a Cummins 300 Turbo Diesel. In my case, the check engine and stop engine lights were triggered by a coolant low pressure sensor behind the coolant overflow tank. The tank had crazed and cracked, presumably from age, and wouldn’t hold the requisite pressure. You could see the crazing when illuminating the tank with a flashlight. My local mechanic procured a replacement from Freightliner and cured the problem. I mention this because your vehicle is approximately the same age mine was, when it happened to me.

Short cycle, no load "routines" on a diesel is NOT advised. This can cause more harm than good. Diesels need to work in order to function correctly. You can't build up enough heat to keep the rings tight, valves clean and cylinders free of unspent fuel, and much more.
You need to get the codes being generated by the alarms. This will help you get a better idea what is going one. It could be a fouled sensor or a real problem, simple to fix or big bucks.
Good luck.

We have a mercedes diesel but had the same problem after storage over winter. The Mercedes place says the DEF fluid crystalizes in the fuel injector and really needs high heat to keep it from accumulating-- need a 1/2 hour or so road trip ocasionally to burn off that crap... Storage and/or just idiling are diesel killers
