Steering wheel stereo control

I saw a post about a fix for the steering wheel stereo controls and can't find it again. I replaced the batteries but no help. I thought I read someone removed the steering wheel cover but I don't know for sure. I've got a 2013 Journey 36M. Thanks for the help.
