Steam Cleaning 03 Journey Carpet?
Want to use our "HAAN Steam Vacuum" (that we use at home) to clean the carpet. Not sure what's under the carpet that could be damaged by the moisture. I'm thinking it's ok but would like advice from anyone with experience cleaning RV carpet. Thanks in advance. ....Doug

I do mine every spring, comes out awesome with no issues. Homes have wood flooring under the carpeting so there shouldn't be any difference. Just try and get up all of the water you can.

When I removed the carpet form my coach to replace it with laminate I found that the pad had a plastic film bonded to the surface to prevent moisture from getting through to the plywood floor.
In spite several years of spills, carpet cleanings and pet accidents nothing had got through it to the floor.

I had an 02 Journey I traded in 2 years ago. I used a Bissel steam vac when I was on the road and a Hoover steam vac when home. I use both 4-5 times a year. The carpet looked like new when I traded it, just don't soak the carpet and get as much moisture out of it as you can.

make certain you do it on a nice warm day....then leave all with windows open. That high-traffic carpet foam stuff works really well

Steam cleaned every RV we've ever owned. No problems.

Very much agree. We do it at least once a year (as needed) and suck up as much water as possible.
But it is the ventilation that really helps.

Plugging in a dehumidifier also helps speed up the process. Forgot to mention it

I had a 2000 Gulfstream that I steam cleaned once and the carpet looked worse after I cleaned it than before. I don't think there was anything between the plywood and the carpet and dark stains appeared after it dried. I ended up getting some spray can cleaner from the store and going over the whole thing several times by hand. I finally got it clean.

I use a bissell carpet cleaner (1600 series I think?? It's not the upright type, but has a large reservoir), and it works great!! I use warm water, but not hot. I did a few areas in my coachmen, which had light blue carpet, as well as the chair arms, and they looked like brand new afterwards.
