Well, last Saturday was our down day here at Disney World, so my son Randy helped me remove and repair the dryer.
I wasn't sure exactly what was bad, the motor ran and timer worked, just no heat. So I ordered a complete heating unit assembly, which included the heating element, thermostat and the safety cut-out. Cost $126 plus shipping (total $142).
(It turned out the safety cut-out was bad, Open. This is a one shot device, cannot be reset.)
To remove dryer I:
-removed top vented double doors.
-removed cross brace which top and bottom doors latch to.
-removed dryer bottom trim cover.
-remove 3 screws on front stack plate.
-uplugged ac cord (I attached a rope line to plug to help during install).
-removed shelves from bedroom medicine cabinet.
-removed false top in medicine cabinet.
-removed left false side in medicine cabinet.
-removed 3 screws from Z bracket (attaches dryer to aluminum frame.
Used a screw driver to carefully lift dryer high enough to clear front bracket.
Pulled dryer forward and lifted out. (I was concerned about the vent hose, but it slid right off the aluminum vent hose. Before I reinstalled dryer I turned the clamp so I could tighten it from the medicine cabinet.)
Replacing the heater assembly was fairly easy, following instructions I got online.
Removed top, right side panel and rear heater cover assembly. The replacement connector plug did not have keyways, so matched wires from original plug.
