Smog Check for Journey?

Always something new I guess. I just got my California vehicle registration renewal form in the mail today and it says I need to get a smog check. I thought diesels were exempt. Mine is a 2006 Caterpillar C7 engine. Whats up with this!

Just another way for our lovely state to raise taxes without raising taxes. We will wind up spending , at least, $60 to have a Technican do nothing but enter data enter a computer so that he can present you with a certificate.

Per the link provided earlier, you should be exempt because I'm sure that your GVWR is greater than 14,000lbs.

Thanks All, I will be going to the good old DMV tomorrow morning with proof in hand of the weight of my coach. Hopefully they will see that they are wrong and I can renew my registration without a Smog Check.

All, Since the date I bought the motorhome new in January 2007, its been registered as a gasoline powered vehicle not diesel. It took me three trips to the DMV today one with the coach to prove that it is indeed a diesel powered vehicle. All that grief for one small mistake by someone at the DMV pushing the wrong button on their computer keyboard.

The final result is No Smog Check

Thank you clearing that up. What a lot of hassle to go through for someone not paying attention to what they are doing. Now if we can just get them fix the ridiculous disparity of fuel prices... It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever that desiel is $.20 more per gallon than premium. It is no wonder that the major oil companies are raking in record profits.
