Slow Slide motors 2009 Journey 39Z

I have a 2009 Journey 39Z and the slides seem to come in so slow. Since it is a older unit I was wondering if anyone has changed them out with positive results. Once in a great while when cold I have had to push on the slide to give it some help. Appreciate any feedback thank you in advance.

As you posted in another thread that you are having some startup problems due to weak batteries, I think this issue is another indication of tired Chassis batteries. It is these Chassis batteries that power your slide motors.

Are you running the engine when operating the slides? This is a must, if not.

Most Journeys have two Chassis batteries, I believe. It may be time to have those batteries checked not only for voltage but also for load capability. By the way, if they are getting run down in storage as you mentioned in the other thread they will not quickly charge back up with a few minutes of running the engine. They can take many hours of charging to be fully recharged - if they are not already compromised.

In the winter especially, I always start the engine, let it run for a couple minutes and THEN pull in the slides. Yes, when it's cold, they move very slowly so the extra voltage really helps the motors. And if the RV has been sitting for more then a couple weeks, I'll spray the sliding portions and the teflon with dry lube. That helps too.

Thanks for your reply and the batteries are new. All of them house and coach as I explained before. I have a large auto facility and were pretty technical. A lot of the basics you speak about I have covered. I understand about parasitic draw etc I do appreciate your input
