My living room and bedroom slides are starting to to slow and even struggle to go in and out. Has anyone had this happen and what could this mean? 07 journey

Do you run your engine when moving the slides? They take a lot of power. If you don;t run the engine it is probably your batteries..................

I use a spray lubricant by WD. Called a dry lube. I wipe down the rams and spray the lube on the pads.

Occasionally will wipe down the sides of the slides so the rubbers have and easier time of it too.

Also have found that if the RV isn't level, that can cause the slides to protest. And as mentioned the batteries being low can cause it.

The slides are hydraulic, check fluid level and then check the wear pad on the bottom of the slide arms. May need to check hydraulic pressure when motor is running for slides.

Slide pad replacement is common on the HWH systems. Also take a good look at the ram pans. We had on BEND! on our '05 Vectra. Also, watch the basement hangar bolts, if you don't already. They are known to break.

That is stated in the HWH owners manual; run the engine or be plugged into shore power/generator for a MH.

Running the engine may be stated in the manual but the question was does he run the engine when moving the slides. Not everyone reads or follows the manual. Pls. note he never answered.

We had one of our motors for living room total burn out. Got it fixed under warranty (less than a month before it ended). Dealer told us it was a major problem as they put too small motors in many of the Winnebago slide outs.

We struggled with the driver's side slide being difficult from day one when purchasing our 05 journey in 2013. They replaced the pads, lubed it did everything possible to get them to quit squealing when trying to come in. The last straw was when we were on a trip and they got stuck out, burned up the motor trying to get it in. Had to have a mobile mechanic push them in manually. Took it home to have our rv guys look at it. They replaced the motor but it still was squealing when trying to come in. They had it for 2 months in the middle of the summer trying to figure out what was wrong with it.
Finally they gave up and told us to take it to the factory. We took it to the Oregon factory{we live in California), they diagnosed it as the pads were cracked AGAIN, and that it was shimmed incorrectly. 5 on one side 2 on the other. Once they got the parts from the main factory, and put them in (two weeks later) it has run flawlessly, no more hesitation or squealing. It is now a pleasure to take out on trips and no more embarrassing noise to make you cringe. Don't wait until you get stuck, take it in and have the problem diagnosed. It is a horrible feeling not being able to leave when you want to.....

As Matterbery mentioned the hydraulic fluid can be low in the reservoir. This happened to me on my 1997 Itasca Suncruiser about 4 years ago. When I finally checked the reservoir it was drops shy of empty. Filled it to full mark and works well since. NOTE: On this unit the full mark on the dipstick to the reservoir corresponds to the slide being in and the jacks up. If you do it with Jacks down and the slide out; when you go to bring everything back in you will have a nice spill over of fluid onto the ground. Also, in my unit the fluid is power steering fluid, which makes it handy having around. My guess is a lot of standard fluid checks done on units at service centers often do not check this reservoir level. Good luck!
