Many of us have removed the battery isolation manager so that the alternator doesn't charge the house batteries. So, that depends on your setup.

I hear you - I have an amp meter and work to ensure my batteries are close to 90% charged before I start up for the day (so far, I've been able to w/ Solar), so I don't stress out my alternator, and I don't see more then 40amps heading to the battery - I'm wondering the length and gauge of wire is restricting the "input" of amps. I've been keeping my eye on this to see if it's an option, and maybe I'll get a deal when I have to buy my alternator

I also wonder if that isolator charges while parked from the solar back to the battery - but enough off topic, agree I'm gambling a bit.
