Slide Rail Lubrication

I’ve had my RV for about a year. When I first got it, I created a monthly list of maintenance tasks, one of which is to lube the slide rails with a dry lube. I’ve since read conflicting maintenance recommendations. Some saying that lubing it could gunk up a gear box unnecessarily. Others saying that lubing it is in fact a good thing to do. I can’t find anywhere in my manual where it talks about it.
Anyone have any references to guide me on this? Thanks for your help.

Just my 2 cents. We just bought a new rig with two slides. The guy who did the PDI said to lube the slide rails.

Funny you should mention this because I ran across a YouTube video just the other day covering this topic. FWiW, I was told to clean and visually inspect the slide rails every six months or so and to lube them with a shot of quick drying silicone lubricant. I was specifically instructed to NEVER use oil or grease to avoid attracting dirt and moisture.

I use spray silicone lubricant on my slide rails. Good or Bad?

I use CRC with PFTE. Cost about $8 per can on Amazon. I also use spray silicone lube on the leveler struts. HTH
