Slide Problem '12 Meridian
Last nite I ran my drivers side front slide out with no issues. Normal operation. Tonite, after driving about 340 miles, we pulled into a park. As I was running the slide out, the front end kept going as the back end stopped. All I could hear was a sound like breaking wood. I finally got it to extend as it should but still with that sickening sound.
There was nothing that could fall behind it, couldn't see anything on the floor and the sound seems to be locaded near the wall. The only thing I could see was some paint missing on the exterior gear rack. It doesn't seem to have any way to access the area behind the sink cabinet from the inside.
Any suggestions??
On the plus side, I averaged 9.5 mpg today!

I Ripped a cabinet door off that was open behind the closed slide, look closely and you will find the noise source.

No drawers even close. I did the same thing on my last rig. Everything on the front of the cabinet is right where it should be

I would check the slide roof. My passenger slide had a piece of molding left ontop at the factory.

My wife is not allowed to extend or retract any slides without my approval first.

Just in case anyone wonders, the first generation slide mechanism failed. So all the parts have to be replaced!

No idea what happened. It worked fine, the next time it was kaput. The gear on the motor was stripped. the bottom track on the rear was worn. I'll know more after it's repaired and I see the parts

Finhawk,
Which mechanism was it? Lippert, HWH, or PowerGear?

Don't know without checking the book but whichever one it was, it was the first generation. At the WIT Rally in Cashmere, Wa last week, I was told that other folks have had the same problem.
I have to take it in later to have a slide stop installed

We have a '13 Itasca Meridian. Several shakedown trips went well. On the first long trip, 750 miles from home, the driver's side slide wouldn't retract. Sounded like a soft bottle crate being crushed. Finally Good Sam roadside asset tele operator told us to override the system and use the switch to engage the chassis and coach battery to retract. It worked. Winnie repair later found the factory had left a speaker housing above the slide which started binding. Close call.
