Removing Exterior A Pillar Trim

My new to me Voyage 35A has a leak at the top left of the driver's side windscreen. I believe it will be necessary to remove the exterior A pillar trim to access the windscreen molding.

Anyone know how to remove this piece?

I've removed the interior trim and there is some rust. I think I will be able to treat it with PQR-15.

Another of life's lessons: Don't limit your RV shopping to good weather!

When I had my front window replaced they removed the interior trim and there were some bolts though the pillar that held the outside trim in place. No nuts inside that you can remove to get it off?

There are nuts on the inside of the A pillar. Do you know if these are the only fasteners holding the exterior trim piece?

Thanks,

Bruce

I didn't watch as closely as I should have but I think there were 3 or 4 on each side and I believe that is what was holding it in place.

You've probably already discovered that the nuts you found are the only fasteners for the trim piece. I had to remove mine to do some calking to the front edge of the window assemblies. I also discovered that there was some water collecting inside the trim piece. I also drilled drain holes in the bottom of the pieces on both sides. Be patient as lining up the bolts can be a challenge, but can be done.

Thanks for the input. It's good to know that those are the only fasteners that I will have to deal with.

I have not yet removed the trim piece. I am waiting for drier weather. In the meantime, Gorilla tape has the leak under control.

FYI, there are three bolts and four screws. Two of the bolts are accessed from inside the coach. The third bolt is accessed from the engine compartment. All of the screws are accessed from the engine compartment. Two of the screws are phillips the other two are removed with a 3/16 hex wrench.

The window guy cleaned up the previous repair attempts and re-caulked the window. No joy. The frame may be too rusted out. Next step is to remove the windshield.
