Can anyone offer suggestions how to convert the 2 removable stove covers to a hinged secured unit that doesn't look tacky. My wife has nearly dropped these heavy panels on her feet as they're so awkward. She loves to cook but dreads taking those covers off.
I believe that I have seen ranges that had the hinged Corian covers so it must be possible. I agree with your wife that they are an accident waiting to happen.
Here's a picture of one:
Looking at it makes me wonder if a counter top guy could do the job.

Our 2005 journey came from the factory with folding/hinnged corian stove cover. It currently ia buried in 3' of snow with a cover on top. When i can get inside will take a photo of how it is constructed.

You may want to go to an RV show and find an RV with the same type of stove top. Take some pictures, get measurements and see if you find the manufacturer's name on the hinges.
