Rant '12 Journey DEF tank on wrong side!

On my 36M the DEF tank is on the passenger side.
The truck stops are set up for it on the driver's side.

I either need to go through the truck stop backward (just kidding I have not tried it)
Or find a lane next to a lane with DEF and pull the hose around. It essentially blocks 2 lanes. This is OK if the truck stop is not busy.

What have others done?

Fueled then drove out and turned around and then filled DEF. Asked the attendant and they said OK. Again the Truck Stop was not too busy, but I agree a pain.

That's because the basement air space was used for the DIF tank - and Winnebago basement air is/was on the passenger side.

I just buy DIF in a jug at WallMart and fill the tank - no big deal

How long is the fill hose on the DEF? Maybe pull forward and run the hose under the rear end?

I have gone in backwards and also purchased both one gallon and the 2 1/2 gallon jugs and filled. The 2 1/2 are great as the built in pourer is nice and does not spill

I am at 1/4 tank and we are getting ready to hit the road soon. Here in Belle Chase, LA area I have been unable to find a truck stop with DEF pumps. I was thinking of storing a 3 gal gas can in the DEF tank area, which I still might do.

But in the meantime I found a promo code for Advance Auto, ES123. $10 off $30 or $20 off $50 order. Ordered (4) 2 1/2 gal boxes of Peak DEF ($12.99 each), for instore pickup, no shipping. With tax, $34.76, equals $8.69 per box, $3.48 gal.

Worth not having the hassle on the road.

What good would it do to complain to Winnebago about a product designed by Freightliner? Winnebago didn't design the chassis. They bought it from Freightliner. The main components of the chassis are universal with a few deviations on minor features requested by individual coach builders.

Some coach builders offer an optional fuel fill from either side. Winnebago chose to use only the single fuel fill provided by the chassis builder on the drivers.

I understand Freightliner designed the location before the fuel companies started installing the def pump locations. I think all the 42 foot chassis' are coming with the def tank on the driver side. I believe Freightliner is considering a redesign on future chassis'.
