Radio in 2016 Journey mysteriously turns itself on!

Every since we picked up our Journey last November the dash radio will turn itself on. It is stored in a garage away from the house and not near neighbors. I'll go out to the garage and occasionally the radio is on. I turn it off and go on. It has come on in the middle of the night while camping. It will go months without doing it and then turn itself on. There are no remotes involved.

Call Ghost-busters! LOL. Seriously that sounds weird. Have you tried disconnecting the battery that powers the radio? Radio Under warranty? Get it replaced.

Doesn't come on when battery disconnect switch is off. Yes, it is under warranty, but it has to be a hard failure for them to replace it.

In our 2012 Journey I have a switch on the dash that gives you the option of running the battery off the coach battery when parked. If you have this same switch (which you should) try switching it so it's not on the HOUSE position.

What radio is installed in your coach?

We have a Pioneer X2700BS XM radio. Ours started turning off at different times till it has failed completely. I made sure it had power and a ground. My dealer is replacing the radio/ camera display.

I know that you have a different problem but you may have internal problem in your radio that will fail more often with age.

Try talking to your dealer. You may be able to call and talk to the radio manufacturer. This may be a problem that they are aware of.

Safe travels. JD

Some things never change. The outside radio on my old 2003 Journey DL used to do the same thing. Lots of folks had the same issue. I fixed mine with an additional switch.

See posts #11 and #13 in this thread to see what's probably happening: Radio turns on by itself (old topic but new info). In the case of the dash radio switch it to chassis rather than house power should solve the problem, because that is controlled by the ignition switch.

Ghost in radio

On our 05 adventurer and our 06 Horizon the bedroom radios and the outside radios would come on with no explanation, usually they were off station and would be just static. The solution was to install a mini rocker switch on the red wire of each radio and fit it in the panel next to the radio.
Just purchased an 011 Itasca 40U. On the way home from the dealer the bedroom radio came on, Static, but very loud - installed a mini switch when we arrived home

Thanks for the replies even the Russian hackers! I'm going with the engine/house switch. The problem occurs so rarely that I won't know for at least a couple of months.
