Odometer Issue

On the way south this year I noticed something strange with our 2002 Journey DL. One days journey showed 350+miles when the GPS said 225 (and Google Maps said 220+ miles). So I then looked at the total odometer miles and it said 82,000+ miles. Strange because this summer the recorded mileage by Freightliner was 55,000 more or less.

Does anyone have any experience like this? Obviously, I do not want extra mileage showing up on my odometer. This forum is my first shot at finding a solution since there are a lot of smart guys here. Thanks in advance, Charlie.

Sounds like your odometer is being switched between miles and kilometers. This occurs by holding down trip meter switch on the dash for several seconds. Do a search on line here, there have been posts in past on how exactly it works.

Clayton, thank you so much! That is exactly what it was. After I held down the reset button for a few seconds all was back to the correct Imperial system. You have saved me a lot of mental turmoil.
