Rare Vintage Winnebago Collectable
My most excellent wife found this rare vintage and never used Winnebago Zippo collector’s lighter for my birthday. Thought I’d share...

That is a very cool find! Nothing like a fine cigar next to a campfire, if you like that sort of thing of course

Repurposed mystery storage space...
Latest project, (almost done), thanks to Denny (k9AEG) for his never ending inspiration.
Simple so far. Knocked the panel in with a rubber mallet, salvaging the panel, and installed the hardware.
Bought the door from Winnebago. Already had an extra handle from the bathroom remodel, so Home Depot supplied the hinges and latch.
Now, I’m planning on adding a hinged floor, to creat two separate storage spaces below for light items, paper towels, etc.
Took 45 minutes so far. Building the floor will be the more time consuming part.

Nice! Looks very natural. Good Job Wyatt. As you know we use ours for a clothes hamper. Yep we can get at least 2 weeks of stuff in the gaping space (not that we do), that Winnie left for us. Be interesting what others will be inspired to use that space for now. Gotta love the ideas from this forum.

Carefree Wind Sensor
Latest project completed. Finished the Carefree BT12 awning control install. It supplants the existing Extend/Retract switch with a control module that adds a few nice features. Most importantly, a wind sensor in the arm that auto retracts during windy events to protect the awning from damage. Great if your out on a hike and the wind picks up significantly. It’ has an adjustment for sensitivity as well.
Other nice to have features include a remote and or app so one can dim the LED strip, retract or extend the awning with a single touch of a button—no need to hold it until it’s retracted or extended any longer.

IMHO, they should all come with a wind sensor. But alas, I bought into an entry level unit, I know. But it works for us—just not stock.
Hey, it fits our lifestyle—the two of us plus Wyatt (our child-dog).
Into it 16k upgrades. But, it fits in the driveway. And where we live, that saves us $500.00 per month. The math works for us...

Ok, finished off the mystery space, and as predicted, it took way longer than the door install.
I first made a cardboard template, since there were some supports I had to maneuver.
Then I simply traced that onto my thin and lightweight MDF board.
Added a spring latch that pops up the door, and a matching handle, hing, and Noico 150 mil sound deadening insulation, leftover from insulating under the coach driver’s area (what a pain that was).
Only thing I did wrong was, the screws for the hinges were too long, and screwed into the support beam below, so basically I had screwed the door shut.
Had to take it all apart and snip off the ends on the screws.
Last thing was adding a motion activated LED light.
Project done. Wine cellar below here we come? Paper towels storage above...
Thanks again K9AEG for your inspiration.

Good job. You always take my inspirations one step further. That's good. Maybe that will inspire me to re-engineer previously done projects.

Thanks, I wouldn’t say I take them farther, just a variation of a good idea. Under the bed might be the next of your inspirations. Any tips?

Don't have any real tips except the area closed off is because of the wiring inside there. Once you open it up you will notice the wires. Not many. Just one circuit of 12 volts and another one of 120 volts. I just dressed the wires to the nearest vertical and tied them to that, to keep them out of harm's way. Btw , remove the complete bed platform. Only a few screws. Have fun..

Replaced cabinet latches
I’m on a roll...
Today I changed out the stock cabinet latches for ones that lock as well. Ditched the bungee cords.
Not all, but some have come open while traveling (the one under the refrigerator took some real finagling). For those, they got an upgrade...
I’m pretty pleased. They look great, match the existing hardware, and LOCK for when traveling. Otherwise, they act just like the stock catches, but smoother.

Us too. We keep the heavier pots and pans down there. So it’s come open when I’m doing doughnuts in the parking lot.
The ones above the sink are more preventative, they’ve actually never come open, but all the glassware and dishes are in there. We’ve used a bungee cord there and in the bathroom since the bathroom upper cabinets did come open once. This is just faster, and cleaner, and, well, I suppose I just like keeping busy...

LifePRO4 Upgrade
Last major upgrade, I think...
Replaced the stock flooded acid batteries with Battle Born LifeP04, and dressed the wiring for various add ones (it was a mess in there).
I couldn’t even get to the rear three caps to check for water level, so out they went. And the dealer “prep” certainly never checked them either, as you can see the plastic seal is still covering the backs caps...
Best news is, they were essentially FREE, as I used my AMEX points.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did that nifty system cost?

You’re a tease. One or two? What else did you swap? New charge controller? I’ve been reading up on it and would love to go this route with solar as well, but I’d rather get some concrete poured on my side yard.
