I'm glad you were able to back out of this deal. It means there's another, BETTER, coach out there for you & your family.

I don't know anything about good rust or bad rust so I will be interested to see what those that know will say about what shows in your photos.

.......Bassmaster, you make me feel really good with your decision to walk away, it was your only choice that was best for you and your family. As for the rust!!!!!!!!!!! I wish you could see our 97 Fleetwood, looks like it's new compared to the photo's you posted. Forget the salesman, that's how he feeds his family. Good luck, and travel safe.

Thanks, looking at these pics tonight I feel 100% confidant walking was absolutely the right choice. Impulse buys are often costly and I should know by now. Fixed my sway bar on my Daybreak within an hour after driving off with a $14 dollar part from Ford. It was a much better day today and we left this rusted "new" coach in dallas.

Those photos are downright scary!!! It looks like the coach was sitting in a lake for a while. I would send those photos to Winnebago Industries and let them see what that dealer was trying to sell you as new, I hope the price was cheap. I would not have any problem letting the public know the name of the dealer, they will probably sell the coach to someone else who is not that careful inspecting the chassis. Once you sign the papers and drive it off the lot it becomes your headache even with warranties your the guy that has to argue with the factory reps to get things done.

Wow! My 95 Winnebago Luxor with 110,000 miles looks like a creampuff compared to that. That looks like it's been driven down a saltwater beach.

Winnebago and the dealer have been in contact with me and really tried to salvage the relationship. We really want a Vista now more than ever but won't be making an impulse decision on it and probably won't be doing anything over the next few weeks.

I feel like the dealer has done everything possible since the situation began but I am not willing to be the one to take this particular chassis home. I was not expecting this much followup from either one. I am eager to upgrade my Damon to a Winnebago sometime in the future but have decided I will keep driving the Damon for awhile.

Anyone contemplating an RV purchase (not just a Winnebago) should take heed from this thread. Of those that have, we've learned a valuable lesson not to let our emotions get in the way of really inspecting - over, under, inside & outside - what we're thinking of plunking our hard earned money on.

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Really does look like it sat in water.. Glad you decided to run and that the dealer didnt give you more hassle. All that corrosion would only have given you a ton of troubles down the road that Winnebago most likely would NOT have fixed after discovering its history.

Someone said that there hasnt been a flood since Ike? What if this wasnt from Texas? Seems to me that there were several pics posted here about flooded lots in Georgia last year.

I agree...There was too much rust to say this unit is new...Especially the one picture of the wiring. yuck Guaranteed, within the first year or two, you would have electrical problems.. Well, use the price you were to pay for that unit to maybe find another 10' or in a few months the dealers are going to want to move the 11's to make way for the 12's....
