New Journey Owner

Today I drove home my new 2012 40U Journey! The wind was at 35 and on the side. It handled well! Needless to say it kept me on my toes! First impression is good! Now I can stop complaining about my 2008 Gulf Stream Tourmaster and keep all of my energy on the problems that may or may not surface on the Journey. We will take the Journey to South Texas in about two weeks. The snow that just hit the northeast in the form of a Noreaster gives us a good reason to head south. (Being from the midwest it was only a warning)
With the purchase came a membership in the WI? club so we are looking forward to the possibility of being in Forest City next summer, hoping that huge grassy campground stays dry!

We took delivery of our 2011 40U a few weeks ago. Love the floorplan.

Which dealer did you purchase your new Journey? There's not many left in Iowa after Winnebago put their new dealer requirements in place.

We purchases ours from Camping World RV Sales. Currently working through our shakedown cruise warrenty repairs. The major problem we found is the fresh water tank is leaking where the elbow in screwed in.

Hello,
I am going to Camping World RV in NJ to look at a used Dutchmen 26BH this week. The northeast did get hit with some bad weather. Glad to hear you handled it well. Congrats and good luck!

RV Adventures in Davenport. We live in Ankeny and that means a 3 hour drive every time we want them to service it. Sure would be nice if Des Moines area had a dealer. However the dealer apears to be a good one with a complete shop, including a well equipted body shop.
After getting it home I brought in the bag with all the operators manuals and settled into my recliner. A guy couldn't get through that much reading if he had all year to do it. Hopefully it will outline all the needed service's in a single space so I don't miss the most important ones.

Don't forget Harrison RV in Jefferson, IA about 75 miles from Ankeny. We bought our old Sunova from them and had them service it, no problems, they have been around a long time.

I think Harrison's is the best Winnebago dealer in Iowa, very knowledgeable and fair prices. I wouldn't waste my time with the dealer closest to the factory again. Yes Ron, I still have that long short bed Ford. The next summer, we ordered a new Winnebago from Harrison's, just like one you had in stock. Hope all is well in Forest City.

Congrats on the new rig. We bought our Journey used in 2005 and love it. All of these things are complicated and things do break or fall off, but if you are handy with tools, you can fix most things yourself.

If I lived in Iowa, I'd surely use the factory service center for anything major. They are the best option.

Wishing you many happy and safe miles in the Journey.

We love the floor plan and amenities of our Journey Express. Now if I can just get it to handle well, I will love the entire package. I kinda envy you guys with the Journey because of the longer wheelbase. I definitely think the shorter coaches are at a disadvantage because of the short distance between the wheels.

Freightliner has had me adjust the tire pressure, add a Safe-T-Plus and add some ballast to the front axle. We are leaving for Arizona from Texas to see the kiddos on Friday so that will be the first time I get a chance to find out if all the Freightliner suggestions have helped.

Also, this will be the first long trip I have towed our Silverado 4x4 which is much heavier than the Jeep Wrangler I have been towing. There will be several changes since I last went on a longer trip and I am certainly hoping for the best.

Enjoy your Journey, Winnebago did a great job with the design and equipment on this line.

Congratulations on the new Journey. We are looking into the Journey's as well.
Wonder if you can clear up something, about the flooring on the Journey.
Ceramic tile or polished porcelain tiles ? What comes with the 40U and what is the difference between the 2 ?

Thank you, Pete
