Hi Everyone. Having recently acquired our new to us Winnebago Brave 34D, and upon inspection prior to buying, noted that it had a lot of problems. It had spent most of its prior life in the hot Arizona sun....and they never turned it around! One side, passenger, the sun did a number on the Cirrus blue paint on the baggage doors and the decals. Well they were asking 24.5K for her, but after pointing out all the problems, Tires for one, shocks and old tube type tv's, I was able to get it for a final price of 16.5K
The engine and trans are in great shape, so first thing, change the oil, of course new tires, also the generator runs great, also change the filter on the transmission, will be draining that and replacing the fluid later.
After I retired from the Military, I owned and operated a couple of Semi's so this was not new to me. Although the engine is a gasser, still with 496 cubes it pulls like a diesel, it's really strong.
The new tires helped with the handling quite a bit but the old shocks were allowing her to move around on the road quite a bit, a couple were leaking, so ordered and received four new Bilstein's and with the help of a piece of 2 x 4 as a pry, to move the bolts into position, I wrenched them on myself, wasn't to hard of a job and quite satisfying, and no more sawing on the steering wheel. BTW, mine does not have sway bars front nor rear, so can't do that steering fix.
Anyhoo here's a couple of pictures of the shocks. BTW the interior is in beautiful shape, at least they kept the blinds closed
