I thought I'd make a progress report - we still haven't slept on the new Leesa Mattress yet, we leave on Sunday for a 45-day 4,000 trip that includes a visit to the WBGO factory for a short list of repair items.

The last photo I posted about was the new mattress and it showed the bedroom wall where we had removed the headboard that we never liked.

So, we looked at putting a framed picture there and decided against that, we discuss having a custom padded headboard made, but decided against that, as well. What we decided to do was to put some faux wood planking on the wall. Self-adhesive vinyl planks. We found a company called Inhabit at www.inhabitliving.com and really liked their faux wood planking.

We got the product in yesterday and installed it today. We really like the look. It was very easy to install and seemed to be a very high quality product. It cost about $200 to do the whole project.

We picked a color that was extremely close to the color of the wall paper in the RV. We like that it's a good match, but it would be more dramatic a difference had the color not been so close.

Here's the AFTER photo:

By the way, the California King mattress fits well with the spacer behind the bed removed. But when you fold up the bed with the bed lift the mattress did drag against the headboard. Not a lot, but some. Without the headboard that problem was gone, obviously.

However, as the bed lift lifts and folds the bed the wall sconces had a tendency to catch the sharp bottom edges on the back of the mattress. It was easy to put a hand on the mattress and ease it past the sharp part. If you didn't do that the mattress cover would probably get worn over time.

Since I had to remove the wall sconces to install the vinyl faux wood planking I decided to raise the sconces 1" higher on the wall. That was all it took for the mattress to fully clear those sharp bottom edges as the bed was lifting up.
