I have a 2005 Sunova. While washing it, I noticed that the bottom windshield rubber sealer was loose. I look inside and saw the the glass support tabs waere exposed, wet and already rusty. Any similar experiences? What's the cure?

Welcome sdcyclist to irv2  I had a windshield pop out in corner an glass company had to reset it in new rubber gasket. Newmars are held in place by the gasket only, with sealant. Being an 05 should be checked by glass company under warrenty, not dealer. The glass people can tell you if opening is to big to hold glass correctly. Good luck.  --"007"

I presume that the "rubber sealer" you mention, is the external rubber molding which merely serves a cosmetic purpose.
The "glass support tabs" are only used as a support while the sealant is curing after the windshield is initially installed. Sometimes the glass is mounted on the "support tabs" without the proper rubber cushioning spacers between the glass and the metal tabs. In that case, the build up of rust on the support tabs will eventually (couple years) cause the windshield glass to crack.

That kind of problem is definatel one that the dealer should handle under waranty. Sounds like there is missing sealant. By going to the dealer you have it on the record if further action is needed.

If the coach were mine I would take it to the local auto glass shop, have them remove the windshield, cleanup and paint any rust and reseat the windshield. You cna have to do the rust cleanup and paiting yourself at the glass shop.

Thank you all for the responses. I have an appointment at the dealer July 19 to have the entire glass area checked.
Interestingly enough, an independent RV service specialist warned me about this problem when I had the 12v electrical system updated to a 2Kw Xantrex inverter.

On my '99, I just pulled back the outside rubber molding, and coated the metal tabs with a liberal amount of chassis grease. No problems so far.
