Hole in floor of 2018 Sunstar

Our 2018 WInnebago Sunstar has a large hole in the bottom, beneath the drawer in the kitchen. We only found it when we pulled at the drawer out to fix the slide. Obviously, we are upset that we have a such a big hole but we aren't sure how to fix it. I attached the pictures. Any ideas how to close it?

I’m not sure what you can do. The lines have to move with the slide. Using something like an expanding foam may restrict that. Maybe some fiberglass insulation to keep the draft out?

This hole (cut out) looks like it has a purpose for being there. Whats on the other side of the hole? It seems from the pictures that the other side is also inclosed. I would get in touch with Winnebago and ask them the reason for the cut out and how to seal as not to stop the movement of all the wires and pipes that go through it.

The hole does not open to the outside, it opens into the basement. It is part of the return air path for the propane furnace. Do not try to close it up. Call Winnebago customer service to discuss further as you see fit.

And I guarantee it is not the only such "hole." There are not only wire-ways, but also air-ways. This is one way your enclosed basement area is kept at acceptable temperatures and humidity. Absolutely, do not try to seal it up.

I agree! Think of the basement as an extension of the indoor enclosed space. As such, it it always a good idea to keep those basement doors closed when not using them. I have seen people leave their wet bay door open with the hoses attached. This invites “critters” into your basement space and home.
