Hubby and I have opportunity to purchase a 2002 Adventurer 35U w/ Workhorse chassis. Coach is in clean, clean, clean condition w/ 23,000 miles, and has every option available on that unit. We currently own a 28" travel trailer, and don't know much about the class A's. We're taking for a test drive next weekend and need any advise on what to look for as far as warning signs, any "inherant" problems with these units to look for, etc. The price is definitely right, but don't want to purchase an expensive problem because of inexperience. Any advise on signs to look for would be appreciated! Is it possible to obtain the service/maintenance history (this is through a dealer), do you think, that could tell us what, if any, warranty work has been done, or if any recalls were taken care of? Thanks for any help and advise you can give!!!

OK Check see which WCC chassis. W-20 (20,000# or a W-22 22,000#).
Run the Vin # with Workhorse and make sure all chassis recalls have been completed.
Tires 19.5 or 22.5? There some owners who had problems with the 22.5 Michelan.
Allison 1000 Trans should have had a Trans. filter changed at 5000 miles. See if it was taken care of.( external spin on filter)
We have a 2001 35U on a W-20 chassis and it has performed well for us.

Winnebago dealers can pull up the maintenance history on a coach. I have seen them do so on our coach when we needed service at an out of town dealer

Just remember. Coach warranty and recall work and chassis warranty and recall work will be two different issues. So you would have to contact both MFG.'s to be safe.

If an owner does recall work on his own. It may not show up on the MFG. list of work being done.

Jennifer, take alook under the coach at chassis and see if you have newer shocks and any upgrades to rear end and front end stabilizing the frame. If it does thats a plus. The cat recall should have a sticker on fire wall as to when it was done if not check Workhorse wep site or have dealer check which they should have done already and corrected if not done before selling coach to you.
Good luck and your doing right by asking now and not after purchase.

Recommend all new batts (2/house; 1 chassis).
Ck oil in front wheel hubs.
Ck age of tires (date of mfr).
What is the CCC weight?
Does transmission have synthetic oil?
If a 4-door Norcold fridge, ck door heater recall.
Condition of fiberglass sidewalls.
Spring clips (rear) not broken.
No unreasonable rust on undercarriage.
Check roof perimeter seal & when last inspected.
Any water/rain leaks?
Test drive it w/an experienced M/H RVer, on local & freeway.

I had a 2000 35U (Ford) & liked it; but prefer Workhorse.

Do a really good PDI. PM me if you want a checklist.

Thank you for the great advise! We're taking all these suggestions with us this weekend when we drive the unit. I appreciate the help and will keep you posted on how it turns out for us!
