Kinda like where we were several months ago. We sold the 26M Intent for a more permanent Jayco 40 ft. RV Park Model that we LOVE. But needing a camper for our many excursions, we downsized to a Class B. Yes the Class B so far, has been satisfying our needs, even dry-camping.

So whatever fits, and keep MaMa happy, is the clue.

In an addition to the above, yes the challenge here with moving from a Class A 26M) to a Class B 21 foot, is ROOM! I miss the basement storage big time. My work-around for this is using the roof rack more efficiently by using a good roof meshing . Here I can put some of the large items we purchase from shopping and things like that.

Just modified the Trek bike rack, in the back of vehicle, to enable it to hold my infrared portable grill, thus excluding any table that needs, for that.

Since the motorhome has a propane quick-connect in the back of the vehicle, was nice to just beable to eliminate any 1lb propane canister and just connect directly to grill.

And so the mods continue, as with our beloved 26M... (I wonder who is enjoying it this evening) Wonder that often.

So, whatever MH you have this evening, Just be thankful for its engineering, but remember, everything can be improved upon, and this site is a good one to begin your adventure.

Hi All,
Not a lot of activity here anymore. I hope you’re all doing well!
It seems some of us continue to follow each other on a similar path.
After selling the 26M and changing Coasts, we have found ourselves in a tiny travel trailer and truck. The trailer is only a 16’ box, so 10’ shorter than our shorty INTENT. It’s actually pretty roomy for being so small, though. Driving the F150 is a much quieter experience, than the RV rolling earthquake. Switching Coasts again soon, so the cross country trip will be very different than before!

F150 3.5 Ecoboost and Sun-Lite 18rd with Murphy bed. Rear door with dual awnings and factory solar.

As Denny said, it’s all about the modifications to fit your own needs. That’s the fun stuff! That’s why this is one of the biggest threads on this website. So much stuff in here!

Yes we all seem to find our new niche, and glad for you guys to find yours as well as we have also. Just got back from a 3 day journey dry camping in our class A. Yes smaller than the 26m, but certainly more agile and fun to drive in winds and whatever comes along. And comes with a RV king sized bed, which is an overkill for us. I'll try and include a few pictures.

Yep... that works.

So does taking the photo the correct way.

1. Hold the phone horizontally NOT vertically

2. Volume buttons facing down/Home button if you have one facing right

That's all there is to it. And your uploaded photos from your phone will always be the correct orientation.

Thanks Wyatt. I often thought of that improvement over the normal plastic cover for the fill area.

Lately perpetrators are stabbing a hole in the plastic tanks to gain access to that liquid-gold your tanks holds. I guess, for myself, I will dry camp in more appropriate, more secure locations. (we all know these places).

I think the mentality of people today is reminiscent of what my parents went through with hoarding food after the Great Depression, and we saw it agin during the COVID stay at home order with the rush on toilet paper and paper towels.

Now the flavor du jor is gas! The mentality of hoarding of gas seems like a hangover from COVID— I lived through the 70’s gas crunch and while people were stealing has from cars, (where the locking gas cap made its entry into our lives), I do not remember anyone drilling holes into the bottom of tanks to extract gas back then. It’s really only a dollar more a gallon—it’s not priceless and certainly not worth going to jail over.

My concern about the locking gas cap is more about some teenagers (like I was) doing something stupid and putting sugar in my tank or something else because it’s right there at the sidewalk as they go by and we get hundreds of kids between August and October by our home since we are very close to a cross country track.
I’m freaked out about them climbing up the ladder as well and someone getting hurt and me getting sued for unwittingly providing an attractive nuisance.
Still looking for that perfect ladder guard…

I just bought a 2018 Intent 26M two weeks ago (I'm the second owner). The previous owner recommended this thread so I've been going through it and am very appreciative of the many who have shared their experiences and modifications.

The stock sleeping arrangements are adequate for my wife and me, but we anticipate occasionally we will need a larger dinette bed. Here's our quick, lightweight, and inexpensive solution:

An extension of 30" gives a 64" x 72" bed and still allows squeezing by next to the kitchen cabinets. Having recently moved, we have a lot of empty cardboard moving boxes. Medium boxes are 18x18x16H and smalls are 12x16x12H. We planned to use three mediums upright along the dinette and then a row of five smalls on end to give 16" high. Total depth to the dinette is about 18" + 12" = 30". We laid a 30" x 60" pine tabletop on the boxes (okay, not so inexpensive these days) but a piece of plywood, collapsed moving boxes, or a 30"-wide folding table could be used. We padded the tabletop with foam (pillows or blankets would work). We cut foam to 64x72 and put that over everything (not shown). The attached pics are from a proof-of-concept and were with fewer boxes than we originally planned. The extension was stable and could hold our weight. My guess is that if you strapped the three mediums and five smalls together to give a continuous surface, you could get away with a non-rigid topper such as blankets if you were careful.

You want some extra padding over the inside edge of the dinette. The wood ridge at the end of the cushions can be felt when the cushions are compressed.

If you're going to use the cabover bunk, it's best to put the ladder on before assembling the extension.

We carry the foam topper (actually a piece of the pillowtop mattress from an old waterbed) on the queen bed for use as extra padding when not using the dinette extension. The tabletop goes under the cabover mattress. We won't normally carry the cardboard boxes but they are empty so they could be stacked somewhere.

Time to resurrect this thread…
Newest solution to wind yanking the gas strut out of the door. You get two in a box. Install took 35 minutes—10 of which were trying to make sense of their stupid instructions. Seems to work great. Says will hold door in place up to 25 mph gusts. Sure better than my bungee cord I used…

Thought I'd add a work around for the plastic piece that fits in the screen door. When it breaks--or how to upgrade it to a more user friendly way to open. I used a stock Lippert p[art, but had to modify it to fit our 12" opening in the screen door, as it only comes in 9"...
