Next are the seat belts. I don't need them so I put them in a box. I think they were assembled before the Slide was put into place, because the bumper bolts come in from the bottom and are too long to be removed. I didn't want to cut them off and remove because I wouldn't be able to re-use them in the future. So, I used a 2x4 laying flat, along each edge, marked all the bolt locations and then used a spade(?) bit to drill recesses in the bottom side of the 2x4 as clearance for the bolts. I covered the wood with the same black carpet.

The next one are the holes left near the front edge of the slide from the dinette attachment. I did a pretty good job of pushing the linoleum back into the holes, but you can still see them. Also, hopefully your flooring was attached to the slide base better than mine. There are a hundred staples that didn't go deep enough and the linoleum is unraveling along the front underside edge. I don't have a good solution for this yet, but I have a pretty thick rug in front of it that covers it.

I hope this helps.

Ah... That seatbelt issue might be the killer. I wanted to use two of them with the sofa... If they aren't easily repositioned then I think the project is DOA

Well...genie has 110 hours so time for the oil change. Got everything but the SAE30 from Amazon. Also got a replacement clamp to reinstall the exhaust pipe for the generator.. Original one was all corroded and allowed the pipe to do off.

Using straight weight in the generator? I like to use 15w40 Delo or Rotella personally. It’s an oil without molybdenum disulfide or many additional things in it which make it good for air cooled and diesels. Since it’s a multi weight, it works through a wider temperature range. With a lighter base stock you get greater “pump ability “ when the engine is cold and since 95% of engine wear takes place on a cold engine it’s money well spent. My $.02. I had 1200+ hours on my last generator and I have friends with Honda 2KW’s with like 5000 hours on them with those oils so something must be good?!?

Hey thanks Doc! Gonna have to take your advice I think. I've not done this before and was looking at following the manual, but I like those hours you're reporting. Gonna read up a little bit more before I buy the black gold

Well, changed the oil and made got the exhaust pipe reattached. Noticed corrosion in spots. Like the bolts that attach the bands that retain the fuel tank! Not sure if that's a warranty thing or not, but I'd hate for them to give way like the saddle clamp that held my exhaust pipe to the generator did. I used Rotella T4 15w-40 for the generator change.

Anybody use an add fuse on the chassis fuse box yet? I'm going to wire up internal leds in the pilot/copilot area and am looking for a good power source.

This is regarding the vent located on carpeted panel in front of passenger seat. Anyone wonder why no AC comes out of it? I thought it was disconnected but not so investigation reveals the hose is actually attached to the DEFROST and not the AC...doesn't seem right to me and I would like to change it to the AC...I notice there is an available hole in the AC housing the other 3 AC hoses come out of but have no idea what would be involved to change this one hose over...can't figure out how the plug in the housing is attached right now.

Anyone make this change yet? Thanks

Rear Sway Bar

Having the Roadmaster 1139-144 Sway Bar installed on Thursday. This Baby is newest version and 1 3/4" diameter. Interesting the OE installed is left in place and the Roadmaster supplements. This should give much needed relief from fighting high winds and Semi buffeting during their passes. I purchased from Camping World at 45% off and they direct shipped to me in only 3 days via FedEx. Camping world was willing to install for only $59 (short term sale) but could not give me a firm date before my next trip which starts Monday 6/24. I contacted my Alignment specialist and he is doing install for about $200 which is close to the normal Camping World price and I know he will do an excellent job as I have used him before. New trip is to Pacific Northwest hitting CA, OR, WA, ID, and MT. Visiting Yosemite (if open...still closed as of today), Coeur d'Alene, Glacier East and West and then the cities of Vancouver, Seattle, Portland and heading down the Oregon and Cal coast. As planned trip is 3577 miles and about 25 days. Looking forward to the drive with the new bar...now have front Sway Bar and Safe-T-Steer so rear should be excellent complement.

Center Console Fix

I made a brackek from angle iron i purchased at Lowes...has multiple holes in it and purchased two 2' long sections. Made cuts resulting in two 13.5" pieces and two 4.5" pieces and assembled with 1" bolts and cap nuts. I drilled two holes in the existing aluminum metal plate that holds the console and then bolted the bracket to it...resulted in very tight fit against the engine cover and don't think it will slip so did not fasten to the cover. I also used grey foam pipe insulation and reassembled with the foam in place. I have now driven about 20 miles on some very bumpy roads and not a peep out of the bugger!! I think it is fixed. Here is a picture of the final...note I covered the metal bracket with the foam also and you can see the foam running down the sides of the console.

Sorry I don't have more pics...I actually made a video of the whole process but don't seem to be able to figure out how to post it as it is quite a large file. I also installed a Winegard Connect 2 WiFi booster and 4G Hotspot and filmed it also so no pics. Boy does it work great! I purchased an unlimited At&T data plan for it for lump sum of $360 for 12 months. Have streamed about 3 hours using the hotspot while at my storage unit and not a single buffer or problem. When at home I connected to my neighbors WiFi showing signal strength at 65% and after Winegard booted went to 82% and no problem streaming using it also. She only has 30 MPS speed from At&T too.

Hoping to be able to boost thes RV Parks weak WiFi so we can stream without using the 4G data plan but nice to have both. Also, I left unit on while driving and TV reception was great while driving and using the 4G. The Winegard connects to 12V so no worry about Inverter.

Awesome! Can't wait to hear what it's done for your ride comfort. When we took the Falcon to New Orleans for jazz fest, we got some serious porpoise action going. Let us know if you notice a difference there with your new set up!

Driver and Co Pilot LED install

Finally got this project knocked out. It's dark as a tomb in the drivers compartment at night. At one point, one of our dogs brushed up against my left leg (she somehow got around that side of the drivers area without tugging on the seat belt. Well, I wasn't expecting that and that's not fun when driving at night. So I picked up the following from autozone:
Add a fuse 10amp
5 pack of 10 amp ATM fuses
2 Type S brand LED strips in blue
1 pack of 4 Type S brand multicolor spot LEDs
2 packs of Type S brand extension power cords (2 12inch cords per pack)
From Amazon
1 toggle switch (5 pin 20amp) illuminated on/off

My process.
Took out the Ford Owners Manual and referred to the fuse box to find which I wanted to tap into. Decided on fuse 41. 10 amps and power is supplied whenever headlights are engaged. Because these are to aid interior visibiltyvduring nighttime, that's the only time I'll engage these lights, so that's perfect. Plus it's at the bottom of the fuse panel itself.

LED Install project..

Next, gotta find a place to ground this sucker. Looking behind the pedals, I could see daylight...yuck in general, but yeehaw for super simple install! Fed the line outside and hooked the ground to the horn bracket (and it looks like it's the ground location of choice for a bunch of electronics from the factory to boot).

Drilled a hole in the bottom of the drivers armrest and two holes in the floor trim, one directly under the arm rest and another by the fuse box

Wired ground, then the LED string of lights and extension cords, and finally the power from the add a fuse pigtail.

I fed the led cords above various brackets that hold the metal dash faceplate, and zip tied to other cord bundles.

I've got a khaki/burlap contact paper on order from Amazon to hide the cords from the floor and between the dash and the arm rests. I think it will blend in well with the wallpaper.

I love the final result!

You guys are keeping busy!

Bill, you May want to check on that rear sway bar before you take it to Ray. That part number is for years up to 2005. You want 1139-146. You should also bolt on the rear trac bar at the same time. The sway bar helps reduce the rocking and the track bar reduces the wind and big truck “tail wagging the dog” feeling.

YGoHome: Wish I would have seen your post sooner as I definitely would have added the track bar also...a little miffed Ray did not mention when I made the appointment but did when I dropped off for the install (BTW...the 144 fit perfectly however it does require drilling holes in the RV Frame to mount and wheels had to be removed to do that). The track bar is only about $200 compared to $900 (these are suggested retail) for the sway bar. Called Ray after drop off and said to add...can't get the part until Monday and I am leaving Monday for Pacific Northwest trip...gone for a month and about 3800 miles driving. So, will do that next. I already feel a difference when cornering and got passed a couple times by semi on 78 and felt ZERO push. I did see some comments that using a TOO HEAVY DUTY sway bar on lighter coaches can cause other issues...hope not true as the 144 is heaviest out there and probably best suited for 18-24,000 GVW.

Thanks for input.

Tell me about interior lights

I really want to change out the bathroom lights for something brighter. I expected to just be able to remove a plug in LED bulb/panel and replace with another...this does not seem to be true...does anyone know if we have to replace the whole light and if so, where do we get them? I removed the cover and then the 3 screws holding in ceiling and even the wiring is hard wired and not removable. Could not see anything that tells me the size/lumens/wattage or whatever is used for LED to tell you how bright it is...only markings were a manufacture date. The bathroom is definitely too dark (especially to the wife when apply makeup) and I really did not want to have to screw around with adding lights like we have to in the cab area (bdub...thanks for your posting and congrats on your upgrade).

feiter - between you and YGoHom, I think in sold on reinforcing the rear end of the falcon. Gonna put that up on the list for sure.

Still haven't landed on the final solution for what to use to haul a couple bikes around. I think I'm gonna just grab a regular cargo carrier and add some bike tire brackets I found on Amazon that are made to attach to the bottoms. That way I still have a cargo carrier if we decide we're tired of biking around at some point.

Mrs gave permission for us to by a Wrangler as our toad, so shopping for that will commence shortly...I'm super stoked about that one for sure.

What about snagging her one of those lighted vanity mirrors? Mrs has one and really likes it for putting her face on. I'd be nervous about snipping into the house wiring, I'm with you there. There is a lumen measurement app in the Apple Store that might get you in the ballpark.

Oh, on the wiring job, i called Winnebago and for $10, I'm getting 25 feet of the wallpaper shipped to me. Pretty sweet deal I think. I'm gonna return the stuff I got from Amazon. By the way, the color name of our wallpaper is called 'dovetail'. What are the people thinking that make these names up? I mean...what color doves are they used to seeing?

Weights and measures

Hey all, thought I'd give a brief update on weights here. Before we found a great hidden gem at this State Park (if you're ever in south Louisiana, you really need to check out Palmetto Island St Park), I packed up my inlaws, dogs and topped off fresh water tanks and the fuel. Headed over to the Cat scales to check out how we were doing. Pretty dang good is the answer. Honestly this is just about as much as we would ever carry and still over 400lbs to spare? I'll take it! Total weight was 15,480. 5600 front and 9880 rear.

Alright, so reporting from south Louisiana..we made it through Hurricane/Tropical Storm Barry and the Falcon became a lifeboat for us. Not like literally floating around boat, but we lost power Saturday night and lemme tell ya, it's friggin HOT in LA this time of year. So, hopped into the Falcon, fired up the genie, fired up the inverter, and we had a comfortable nights rest. Occasionally we all woke up because of the winds...had gusts around 50mph plus. At one point, we got pushed up high enough that the jacks lost contact with the ground on one side. That was a little scary, but we made it through!
