First Run Vista 31KE

The CP and I have just gotten home from a 950 mile trip from Woodland CA to Bandon Oregon in our new Vista 31 footer. We were not pulling a toad.

We had wind, heavy rain, multiple 6% grades, twisty two lanes, and a Costco parking lot to deal with (a bit tight) on our way to Oregon. We met up with some friends in a Tiffin at Bullard's State Beach Park. I would fully recommend Bullard's as a place to stay. Oregon has some amazing state parks! The park is large, quiet, well wooded, and the sites offer distance and privacy from your fellow campers. Bandon, itself, is a fantastic destination.

The trip home was dry with no winds. We had planned on staying somewhere half way between Bandon and Woodland on the way home but decided to drive non-stop....that is other than rest stops for meals and bathroom breaks. We really like not having to leave the MH for either during our trip. We can make lunch, eat, and be back on the road in much less time than going to a restaurant...never did it in the TT...though I don't know why.

Anyway, we had a great trip. We are very happy with the Vista. It is comfortable for the two of us and the V10 performed beautifully in the mountains. We also got 8 to 8.7 miles to the gallon. I had expected 6-7 mpg. Other than an issue with the parking brake and the DVD player, all of the systems worked as expected. There is a switch in the parking brake which inactivates the DVD player so you can't watch movies while driving. Ours doesn't let us watch even while we are parked...in a place like Bandon...not particularly a problem.

One thing I don't like is having to plug the house power into the onboard Onan generator if you want to go dry camping. However, this is an "entry unit" and considering the price, I shouldn't complain.

So, if you are considering a Vista 31ke, I would certainly recommend it. We love ours so far!!

Chance

Hello Chance. Congrats on your Vista. My wife and I have the 2015 Vista 35F and love it. It has a few quirky things as well, but all in all very pleased.

You'll never have transfer switch problems.

Congrats on your new coach. We just checked out Bullard's State Beach Park and put it on our bucket list! What a beautiful place. Thank you very much.

We were oh so close to buying that exact same coach but at the last minute our salesman showed us a very well taken care for older 34H Journey.

Welcome to this wonderful life style and wishing you many great memories...

Thanks Ohio Snake

The 35 footers are nice. We had started out looking at the 27 but ended up with the 31. I am glad we chose the longer one. The 35'er wasn't an option for us.

Here's to many happy miles for us both

Travel safe,

Chance

Thanks Ron, you can't go wrong at Bullard's. Also Bandon and the surrounding area has a lot to offer. I hope you can get there to check it out.

Cheers!

I almost did that as mine has the same issue, instead I just bought a $50 blu-ray player, much better quality video through HDMI even on normal DVD's, the in dash is SD analog connection.

I also went and added a auto-transfer switch to mine along with a Surge-Guard with remote display. No more having to plug the cord into the generator. Also did a Amp-L-Start to keep chassis battery charged on shore power.

Yep, we stopped at the Costco in Medford and picked up a blu-ray player. I will look into the auto-transfer switch. Thanks!

Save travels as well. We study the floor plans for about 2 years before settling on the 35F.

We are heading to Disney fort wilderness end of April for a couple of weeks.
