I just finished up my pressure washer/deionizer mod. As it usually goes with me, as I'm doing one project, I'll think of another or discover another potential modification. This was no different, one project morphed into another.
While I had the luan panels removed to rout piping, (the whole fresh water tank is exposed).......and I looked at all the space above the tank and thought, jeez I should make use of some of it somehow.
So hatched this idea to have drawers there. I purchased some plastic drawers from good ole Walmart, some steel angle stock, and some flat aluminum stock from Home Depot.
Above the water tank there is a large metal tab on each end to keep the tank from jumping off the floor and moving around. I glued a piece of 3/8 inch plywood to each tab surface to have something to screw into. I sealed it down with Eternabond two sided tape. Then I screwed the angle metal to the wood at each end, it's good and solid, and looks like this:
The angle metal is what the back of the drawer framework will sit on. I test fit the drawers, then took them out and screwed them all together to make one unit. I then used a 5/8 X 5/8 inch square vinyl plastic composite trim I had on hand and screwed it down to the top of the black frame in front of the water tank. The front of the drawer assembly will fasten to this and be firm in place. It also worked well to level the drawers from front to back. No part of the assembly is touching the water tank.
Here is a look at the drawer assembly screwed down to the 5/8 X 5/8 vinyl plastic composite.
Now the challenge was to accurately cut out holes in the luan for the drawers only. I managed to achieve this task, and here's a couple photos of the drawer face thus far.
The conclusion in my next post.
Regards,
W.D.
