Door latch cuts groove in strike; rattles

I made the mistake of shutting an extension cord in the door while charging the battery with a smart charger. The latch is cutting grooves in the strike, and the door and door rattles. I don't think the screen door is properly mating up with the door.

I'm thinking I need to have someone come out and resquare the door. I already have a replacement strike. Does this sound worthwhile or should I just wrap the strike in gorilla tape and call it a day?

Ive never made the mistake of shutting an extension cord in the door and mine still cut a groove in the latch post and squeaks and rattles. It took me awhile to figure out exactly where the noise was coming from and in that time I checked , squared up, secured , tightened , re-adjusted , lubricated, re-tightened and the only thing that made any lick of difference was one wrap of gorilla tape around the post.... lol
Imo you'd be chasing a ghost, wrap it and enjoy the ride!
