Differences between Chieftain & Adventurer 98-2001

What are the major differences between the chieftain and the Adventurer? I see different floor plans, but what else?

If you go here Winnebago Previous Model Year Product Information you can see the sales brochures for both models for your years of interest and compare the features.

We owned a '99 Adventurer ... I remember we looked at a Chieftain ... the Chieftain was more upscale ... more real wood, furniture coverings were nicer, "bigger" choices of floorplans ...

And they cost more ... we chose the Adventurer because it had everything we thought we needed at a price that fit our budget.

Thanks, had been to that site, have it bookmarked. Was looking for tangible differences like quality of components, etc.

Thanks, wasn't sure where it fit. Always thought Adventurer was top of line over Brave, etc. Used Chieftains seem to be harder to find, but like some of the layouts better.

I've owned a Chieftain since 1999. I sold my '99 to my nephew when I bought my current '04 Chieftain......which I call the "Last of the Chieftains" I'm coming up on 10.5 yrs since I took delivery of the '04.

You could essentially get the quality of the Chieftain by buying all the options available on the Adventurer. The exception being more real wood and less vinyl. I also have fancier light fixtures and more florescent light fixtures.

I can't be sure, but I think when Chieftain was discontinued, they loaded more standard options to be included on the Adventurer and raised the price point to where the Chieftain was at.

Thanks, we're in no big hurry to replace our Adventurer, so will keep our eye out for a pre 2002 Chieftain

The one thing that I wish that I had from a 2002 Adventurer that I saw was the automatic couch that opens and closes with the push of a button.

I had an 01 35u Chieftain and that couch was sweet.
