Computer mount 2003 Adventurer Workhorse

This situation seems to be a Winnebago issue, rather than a technical one.

I want to mount a computer in my 2003 Adventurer (Workhorse chassis) so the driver can see it clearly. The ideal location to see GPS maps is 24 to 27 inches above the Doghouse right above where the forward left corner of the "drawer" is located.

It does not look that difficult using the equipment dscribed here-

MobileLaptopMount.com

But I have serious questions about the durability of the doghouse itself if it has to support a 5 pound computer on a 27" rise and maybe as much as a foot offset (maybe a bit less in both measurements as I am describing the worst possible installation.)

Has anyone done something like this, using the doghouse as the mounting point? Has it held up? Is the doghouse really made of unreinforced fiberglass or is there metal inside?

Perhaps someone has done this differently or used a different mounting point not on the doghouse.

Looks like a neat idea. Your doghouse has plenty of srtength for this application. Just make sure you leave enough room to get in and out of your seat easily.

jotto desk

I have not used the above brand, but I have over 100,000 miles on one of the Jotto brand laptop stands. 3 laptops have shook apart, but the Jotto is still going strong. Never had it fastened to a doghouse. Always bolted to the floor.

I have installed the exact setup that you have described in my 2004 Winnebago Adventurer. That is an excellent stand and very easy to mount. There is no problem with the weight on the dog house but I did encounter different problems that I wasn't expecting. The glare off of the screen and the angle that the 19" computer from the drivers seat while driving makes it difficult to see the Garmin for Laptops program while driving. The other problem was the access to the front seats. The computer was located closer to the drivers seat than the passengers seat. I did not have a problem but my wife did when entering and exiting the passenger seat. I ended up taking out the laptop stand and bought a Garmin 765T which is mounted to the right of the instruments on the dash. This change has made life easier for both of us. Hope that this has helped in your decision of a laptop stand.

Yes, Bought it on Ebay and installed in our HR. Moves for viewing from each chair. Love this mount. Holds the 17" HP or the 13" Mac
