Check engine light and OBD codes 2016 Vista LX

Had a check engine light during recent trip with no symptoms of anything wrong. Checked and reset codes P2270 and P2098. Anyone out there have any experience or knowledge in this regard? 2016 Vista LX, 19,500 miles. Purchased used over a year ago. Ford F53 with V-10.

Did you drive it after resetting the codes? Did it happen shortly after refueling? Google is your friend. If they don’t come back all is good.

Google them codes and go from there. There are suggestions for a cheap fix if you are a little handy.

Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P2270 stands for “O2 Sensor Signal Biased/Stuck Lean (Bank 1, Sensor 2).” It warns that the #2 oxygen sensor on bank 1 continually sends the voltage signal for a lean air mixture instead of the proper air to fuel ratio calculated by the power control module or PCM

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) stands for “P2098 Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System Too Lean (Bank 2). ” It means the exhaust stream on the bank 2 side contains higher oxygen levels exiting the converter than it should. This code points to a too-lean reading from the downstream sensor.

You might first remove any special tunes that are in place, such as the 5-star tune. (That turned out to fix my problem.)

Leave the chassis battery switch "on" or disable it to be sure it stays on. That will allow you to get long term codes in case something else is going on. That will tell you about long term vs short term fuel trims, and whether it is really running lean. Erasing codes with the battery switch is a bad idea in your situation.

Sensor 2 is attached to the catalytic computer, about the center of it. About $100 from Ford, although there are cheap replacements.

Next maybe look at the cat. They can be ruined by a too-rich rich gas mixture.

That's a start anyway. You'll need an obdII scanner, cheap if used with your smartphone.

Best of luck!
