I had RV Roof Armor put on last week. It should take care of any problems up there.

Next time just got here...
Next project has been to replace the bedroom fixtures with very bright LED arrays and a LED dimmer with remote, but I need an isolated ground to those lights. I'll try heat this time..

Michelin tires

I also had an indefinite back order wait from my local tire dealer. My alternative was to go with Bridgestone Ecopia R283 in a 265/75R22.5 -had the 255/80R22.5 XRV. Very pleased with the handling and ride.

Will do, Dennis. In truth, they would have to be made of granite to change the ride by much. I suspect steering will feel a bit different because of the size change. I wanted to go to a slightly taller tire than the original but the sales lady talked me out of doing that.

Thanks for the interest in the results.

New Table

We finally were able to dump the horrible narrow table that came with our 40U and replaced it with this nice 36" double drop leaf free standing table! Here are before and after pics.Click image for larger version

Hey Dana! Beauty in deed. But, with the narrow stance of the legs, how do you keep the table from joining you in the cockpit when your rolling down the highways of adventure?

Rick haven't drove with it in yet I'll use the strap that came with the MH and secure it either standing, or upside down don't know yet for sure. But with the 2 chairs strapped to it it'll be well stabilized.

2002 Horizon - latest work.

This project started with needing to replace the heater core, since it started leaking antifreeze under the front cap. To gain access to the heater core, the front Cap (clip as it's called), needed to be removed. So that's where I started.

Replaced with new, then addressed some sheet-metal rust, behind the cap, while it was accessable. The replaced the old seal-beam headlights, with Hella halogen direct replacements.

Also removed the bolts securing the metal pan of the padded dashboard, as it had faded and become lumpy, from distinegration og the foam padding. The other bolts (5), had to be drilled out, from inside the coach.

Bought new foam and dashboard vinyl fabric, and re-covered. Then I removed all the dashboard surround panels, those moulded hard plastic shapes that all bolt together to form the driver-to-passenger dashboard. They had turned an ugly yellow color from years of UV exposure.

I had some custom-color, SEM elastomeric coating mixed, to match the new vinyl, and bought a gravity spray-gun in Harbor Frieght. Cleaned, prepped amd sprayed all the panels & vents, and re-installed everything. Just finished last Thursday evening, and headed out on Friday for our first getaway this year.

The inside now looks clean and fresh, and much better than what we've been looking at for the last few years.

Did you personally do all that work? Wonderful outcome but the process took how long?

2008 Journey P39Z

We purchased our coach in March for full-time starting June 1st.

We've got a large to-do list but this is what we have accomplished.
1. Upgraded the inverter/charger to a 3000W Pure Sine (Dimensions)
2. Installed 50A Surge Protection (hardwired, Progressive Industries)
3. LED lighting, Phase I (installed 1 each of the LED) (4M Products)
4. Trimetric TM-2030RV by Bogart (battery monitor)
5. Installed IP video camera on patio side (AwayVideo.com)
6. Installed coach wifi system (AwayVideo.com)
7. Upgrade main TV to Samsung 42" Smart LED
8. Upgrade bedroom TV to Samsung 32" Smart LED
9. Removed ALL exterior decals, including the two "W"s and all of the "Journey"s
10. Removed the front clear bra (stupid idea to put it on in the first place)

This is future list, I'd appreciate any input (feel free to PM)
-Slide out awing replacment
-Replace mirrors on bedroom closet door with cherry panels
-Add washer/dryer-LP - scheduled for June @ Winnebago
-Extend-A-Stay for LP grill and external LP tank in winter
-Install MCD shades
-Replace flooring
-Install HepvO waterless sanitary valve, for the shower and both sinks
-Purchase water softener
-Magna Windshield Shade and Wheel Covers
-Tire Pressure Monitor
-Tattletale Alarm
-Awing LED lights
-LED light in grab bar
-SOLAR system

Yes, I personally did the work, here at home. I did have some help taking the front fiberglas cap off, so I could replace the heater core. Add'l pics here: http://www.irv2.com/forums/f101/proj...sh-243209.html

I've never done any of this kind of work before, and I'd say I have just average mechanical skills (my career was electronics).

I did the work over the winter, and didn't keep track of the hours. If I were to estimate, I'd say removing the front fiberglass cap, repplacing the heater core, and re-installing, took about 8 hours. I also replaced sealed beam headlights with halogen; replaced w/w hose, sanded and painted some rusted sheet metal, etc.

Dashboard work took more time, but I didn't work on it every day. Next project is replacing the front TV.

Breathtaking! Great pictures and detail. Way beyond my talent level. Also, it is nice to have a big bay to work in.

For those that have switched batteries to T116 or T105 (or extended the house battery tray), can you give details, please?

Last week I had the front Michelin XZE2, 275/80R22.5 tires replaced with Continental HS3 295/75 tires. I tried to get Michelin XZA3+ tires through the FMCA program but none were available and would not be produced for another 6+ months. So the HS3 was the best next choice but, with a discount, were still $15 more per tire.

They seem to ride and handle well. I don't notice much difference in truth. Sharp maneuvering turns are still good.

My original tires were from mid 2010. Because I was running about 150# under max load for that tire/axle, I decided to go up a load range from G to H. This is one of the reasons the tire size changed. I do feel safer with the stronger tire on the front. I hope I can get good service out of them.

Happy trails,

Rick
