Does anyone know the CCC of a 2007 Journey 36G?

We're still considering the 2004 Journey 39K from a private party, but going to the dealer tomorrow to see what they have on the lot. Our first choice was the 36' Journey. We will be living in it 8 months or more per year.

The GVWR of the '07 36G and the '04 39K is the same at 27910lbs. Starting in '06 the 39K (only) the GVWR was increased to 29410lbs by increasing the rear axle GAWR to from 17500lbs to 19000lbs.

The only way to estimate the true CCC is to find/read the weights and capacities certification document for the specific coach and its options (engine/transmission options being a major one for the rear axle). This document is usually stuck on the back wall of a closet.

This said I would think between the '07 36G and the '04 39K the 36G will have a slightly higher CCC just because it has less overall weight from being shorter.

Biggest thing I've learned about my Journey directly and others via the forum is you'll probably limit out on GAWR on one axle or the other, probably the rear, before you max out the overall CCC carrying weight rating.

Another note is you need the optional CAT C7/Allison MH3000 on Journeys in order to tow 10,000lbs (GCWR-GVWR).

Sorry this didn't provide a direct answer to your question but there's simply too many variables. Maybe someone who owns the specific year/models you've asked about can convey their real-world experience.

Thank you vicsryd, this is a big help. I'm doing my homework, trying to read brochures and posting here so I can feel more comfortable knowing that we are getting a coach that will fit our lifestyle and needs.

Today I was told by a sales manager that the CCC is just a guideline and if the coach has a ccc of about 3,000 you could really take it up to 5,000. I want to be safe, not sorry.

If you want to be safe, disregard what the sales manager told you. Typical salesman - say anything to make the sale. Apparently he knows the CCC is low on the '04 39K. There is no way you can go 2000 pounds over the CCC without exceeding GVWR. You can add a few hundred pounds because the CCC includes 154 pounds for each "sleeping position" in the coach. In the case of the 36G that's 5 - so, if it's just you and the wife and your combined weight is less than 770 pounds , you can add the difference to the CCC.

I've uploaded an image of my weight sticker, but as of now, it's still pending approval. When it gets approved, I'll post it here. I know you asked about an '07 36G and mine is an '04, but there have been only minor changes - nothing that would have much effect on CCC. Mine has the Cat C7 and 3000MH transmission.

GoneFishin: We have an 04 39K Journey and the CCC is 2457 per the sticker in the bathroom closet/cupboard. We are fulltime and love this floorplan for the living space.

Mine is an '02 but the CCC listed on the sticker in the closet is 3,000 lbs and some change. For two people, the 36G is a great floorplan, IMO. I carry a lot of stuff and with tanks full (fuel and freshwater + a bit in the holding tanks), I'm well under the GVWR. I do not have the Splendide washer/dryer so not sure how much weight that adds. If we packed carefully (and the DW didn't take so many clothes), we could live in ours for 8 months and not feel like we've left anything important behind.

I took photos of every inch of the coach, including all the paperwork, msrp, and the mh weight information paper in the closet.

Hopefully we'll be the proud owners of a Journey next week and we'll have something to contribute to others as we learn more. Doing our homework and reading these postings prepared us for the visit to the dealer today. My dh said I knew more than the salesman, but he was new at the job.

Our 2002 Journey DL 36GD, with all available options, including washer/dryer, has CCC of 2836 lbs.

Hi, for what it's worth, I commercially weighed my 2004 Journey 36G shortly after purchase. I had full fuel, full fresh water, empty waste tanks and loaded for camping and my wife and I sitting in the front seats.

The certified weight was 24,900 lbs. The GAWR is 27,910, so I had an extra 4,000 lbs available. I thought that was pretty good.
