Perhaps you misjudge the character of some of these thieves...? There may be some unwritten man laws / code among the thieves. You just don't steal a Orange Catalytic Converter. It is like a Parley agreement between a Thief and a prospective victim of Catalytic theft where that RV Owner is saying, look I acknowledge you are going to steal these things, but you could please leave mine alone, and find someone else's to steal

I noticed that the Orange 2000F spray paints were hard to find as well, so I got a Creative Part. I looked at a Red paint by Rustoleum 2000F. It had some negative reviews; so I read a couple. They went on about how nice it looked when they applied, but customers were mad because they say after 50 miles it turned ORANGE!!! I ordered two cans spent $20

So I now have $280 remaining on my theft deterrent budget.

First if I were to fully fence it in, I could not easily park my 24ft boat on the other side, because a fenced wall would not allow me to back the boat to point where right rear tire is on outermost edge of driveway. That is my pivot point as the back of boat extends another 4 feet or so.

#2 I worry more about a theft traveling someplace than at home. Without the details, our home and property is not a good choice for a Thief

#3 I only have a $300 budget, and I have already spent $20 on Red High Temp 2000F paint that I am expecting to fade to Orange

Options thus far...

1. Catstrap + Cateye $259 plus some labor to install (Guess $500 total)
2. Catstrap $129 plus ome labor (Guess $300 total)
3. Catclamp $193 plus some labor (Guess $370 total)
4. High Temp Orange Paint ($TBD and what to buy?)
5. Ring Camera $100 ( is this really the true total cost?)
6. Other idea #1?
7. Other idea #2?

I have Progressive Insurance as well, I wonder if they have some recommendation on what to do, or give any credit for taking proactive measures?
Of course, it will only work when away from home if you have WiFi…

The last time I started the motor was exactly one month ago so sometime in July the thieves got to it. Since it's Sunday I'll wait to report it until tomorrow. The storage place has video cams so perhaps we can see something.

I read about this happening to others and always think I'm lucky that my storage place is out in the country, out of sight of the highway and brightly lit and securely fenced.

But none of that matters when a thief wants your stuff.
Same happened to me when I went to get ours for July 4 holiday. Turns out thief had gotten our converter & at least 3 more. Fortunately they had him on video & he was arrested, not that that helped us. The exhaust shop said it was a daily thing for vehicles to come in with converter missing. Seems to me the salvage yards with the big "We buy catalytic converters" signs just add to the problem.

The place I store my RV said they looked at the video and saw nothing going on and there were no holes in the fencing, etc. They had to look at 30-days of video and I really doubt they did... or even could do so in the time it took them to call me to say they didn't see anything with my RV.

In fact, I had a camera pointing directly at my RV in it's old slot.

I have now moved to a covered space higher up in this terraced lot. The other RVs around my new spot were not touched. Let's hope that doesn't mean they'll be back for those.

I have no idea that this will help prevent a recurrence but here's the result....

I put SAPD (San Antonio PD) just to reinforce the effect. Just stuck on letters and then removed them after painting.

PS. This is the Ford Red 2000 degree VHT paint. Looks orange to me.

That's the hope. Glad I took a chance on the "Ford Red" color, the can's cap is a dark red. If I wanted red and got this I'd be pretty ticked off.

But I don't think the South Atlanta PD is gonna scare anybody, they may steal it saying their name is on it

Your Red to Orange color was perfect, a lot better than I would have expected.

I got my Red Rustoleum ( 2 cans) today; so I will be a day or two behind you. I am gonna try DPD in (Dallas Police Dept) on one side and the VIN # as displayed on State Inspection sticker on the other side if it works.

Theft of my Catalytic Converter in my RV is no Joke, but it was kind of funny to bring some levity to the situation at hand

I hadn't heard of anyone claiming theirs was stolen and it had been painted;, but I know it is still possible. I once saw a clip on the thefts and they showed a place that had a hundred or so of them stacked up presumably stolen. Seems like I saw a couple that were orange?

Excellent idea! The only thing I might suggest is immediately above SAPD add "Registered with...". Even though its a ruse, it just might REALLY give a potential thief pause for thought.

Finished. This is with the Rustoleum Red 2000 degree spray paint.

Dallas PD on Front and VIN # as on the Texas State Inspection sticker, I masked over some of it for security.

Looks Orange to me. I have allowed it to cure, but I suspect it will become more Orange over time as I drive it.

I only used one can and was able to apply 3 coats

I have an extra can so if this one is stolen I will be ready

What about FBI, that’s seems more universal? On my WiFi I use POLICE WIFI as a name, hoping nobody wants to hack that…

So I take one very short trip, and this is what my Catalytic converter looks like now. Makes you wonder what the heck is going on inside and/or how long the 2000F Spray Paint will last?

Is this normal?
