Battery Replacement

Battery Replacement:

I currently have 2 rayovac ultra pro series 31s. I can't even find them to see the initial cost. No idea how old, no stamping or stickers on them. 1 won't charge all the way and discharges while sitting. The other one is good.
Specs: 925cca 1110ca

I want to replace both. But, I really don't want to spend more than $250ea and that's a stretch.

I'm turning a 400hp Cummins....

What's the best bang for my buck?
Thanks...

These would be the chassis batteries (engine starting) so just go to Costco or Sam's club and buy a group 31 battery. Should be a lot less than $250 each.

This definitely for the start batteries where you want a high output CCA but not worried about any type of deep cycle issue.

Best place I’ve been told is a truck stop.

Idk about Costco or Sam's club. There are many variations of the same series. Some much better than others. I've used Walmart Everstart and Everstart Maxx for cars, trucks. Both were junk imo.

I'll see what my cousin uses. He's a trucker...

Any Advance Auto Parts has them for $129 each. Order them on-line for a 20% discount. The old ones lasted 8 years in my coach, also a Cummins ISL.

If you live in AZ or hot weather climate. I would suggest AGM so you do not have to worry about forgetting to refill battery acid. Plus they do not sulphur smell when charging.

Check the price of Alliance Batteries at a Freightliner dealer - these are stock starting batteries on Freightliner chassis for OTR trucks and RVs. They're available in sealed batteries and CCA up to ~ 1200, and on sale can be ~ $110 with trade-in.
