An Onan Alterative

I've got a 2006 39' Journey. I've beeen thinking about quieter alternatives. I do know tha Air Conditioner needs 30 amp service and would appreciate any thoughts.

One more thing, does anyone have any thoughts about brands to stay away from?

If you are thinking about replacing the built in Onan generator, whether it be propane, gas or diesel with something quieter, I think you are out of luck. Onan has that market sewed up.

If you want a portable like the Hondas, you don't need 30A but you probably want more than the Honda EU 2200i or equivalent. That unit is probably maxed out running a single 15,000 A/C. A Honda EU 3000is or equivalent would probably work, but would not run two A/Cs at the same time. But with only 30A shorepower I doubt if your coach has two.

Note that it will take a significant gas supply if you are going to run 24/7. More than a single 5 gallon jug of gas each day.

I have thought about this alot. I did alot of NASCAR events prior to COVID and spend alot of time walking around and talking to folks. The go to unit is the Honda EU3000i. They are not cheap but by the time you buy 2 2000i units your at the price of the 3000. They work well for dry camping and are quiet with the AC running. I have dual 2000i which are alo quiet but i have to fill them alot more. The 3000 has a 3 gallon tank so its still gonna need refuels but alot less than the 2000's. Depending on what you have the AC set on and what the temp is outside will depend on how much fuel you run. If its at idle it sip fuel. I have been looking for a 3000 myself but i already have the 2K's
