Air Bags Won’t Air Up 2001 Journey DL 36
I recently purchased a 2001 36' Journey DL. Took a short 150-mile trip when purchased and everything was great. Been parked a month and went out to take for an exercise, front air bags will not air up. Note: It's been parked on an uneven driveway with blocks under rear tires to level as well as possible. Air dumped. Anyone experience same? Thanks

I reviewed all of the similar posts with similar issues, unfortunately nothing worked. Extended and retracked the jacks, hit the store button before and after starting engine, hit the rabbit button before and after as well, nothing. Let it sit and idle, nothing. Seems odd that it would happen with no symptoms or warning. If anyone has any additional input, I'd appreciate it. Happy travels!

I camped on unlevel ground a couple years ago and apparently, while leveling, broke the airbag seal on one of the rear bags. Had it fixed but it happened again last year camping on level ground. The guy that fix it the first time fixed it the second time but this time put new airbags on. He said that the airbag seal design on my 2016 Journey was not very good and as the bags get older and less pliable they tend to pull loose. So he recommended new airbags.

Thanks, what did the air bag replacement run you? That’s a big job!

On my 2010 Journey, every now and then after a long stay, the front airbags take a while to inflate (one or the other or both) but sometimes I am ready to go before they inflate. I have found that many times I can jump up and down a bit in the front, and hear them pop when they seat. Sometimes I start driving slowly, and hit the brakes a few times which gets the bags to seat again. It doesn't happen often, but they always pop into place in short order. Perhaps I should do something but I treat it as just one of those things you live with over the many years of full timing.

This guy that works on my rig is not big on receipts, but I remember it being around $1,000 for the rear airbags.

This is not unusual when disrupting the normal process. The system sort of loses it memory when manual dump is used and/or the complete process is interrupted.
Follow this procedure,
Start engine and allow air pressure to reach normal. Turn on HWH leveling system panel, then push auto-level. It should go through the complete procedure and turn off, without actually doing anything. Then push store, it should store the jacks normally and air springs inflate afterwards.
What happens is, the dump valve, which are supplied by Winnebago instead of HWH, must receive a 12V signal to open and dump the air springs. They must also receive a 12V signal to close and allow the air springs to inflate. When manual dump is used the dump valve does not receive that signal to close.
This lesson cost me $180 from a mobile truck mechanic.
If by chance this doesn't work it cost you nothing.

I gave it try with no luck. I appreciate the info. As much as I don't want to, I'll have someone come out & take a look at it. Most likely something simple I'm overlooking. (I hope!)

Yes, finally figured it out yesterday. There is a "dump valve" in the system and it was stuck in the dump (open) position. Changed it out. Appreciate everyone's input.
