IMHO, the 35U was the best floor plan Winnebago ever offered and many must have agreed as they sold lots of them.
I look at my 38R as a larger 35U.

We have a 35U and love the floor plan. Ours is a 2003 and we paid around 30K so that is a decent deal. We replaced all the tires as they were over 10 years old.

We bought an 03 35U last spring, 2015. Paid a little over 30k but tires had been replaced so all set there for a few years. Just the wife and I so size and layout our good. We like it.

My wife and I just purchased a 2001 Adventurer 35U. After much research we couldn't find a better layout for our needs in our price range. It was very well maintained and after a couple weeks of renovations we have a real perdy RV! We paid $18,000 with 65,000 miles. I've been paying attention to the used RV market for a couple years and that sounds like a really decent price for the Suncruiser, depending on the condition, of coarse.
There's plenty of great resources on this forum and Youtube for things to look for and inspection checklists. I watched hours of videos and read tons of reviews before purchasing and spent a good hour looking over the RV before purchasing. There's a lot to look for on these things.
I found this inspection checklist helpful:

Hope it works out for ya!

In Jan 03, we bought an 01 35U with 12K mi and the Ford V-10. Drove it for 8 years and a total of 82K mi and never had a chassis issue at all. The coach part was great also, not too many issues and nothing major. My wife especially liked the hamper in the bedroom and misses it greatly.

We had a 2003 Suncruiser 35U that we bought brand new and put about 50K miles on it. Traded it in in 2008.
- Is it on the Workhorse chassis? We paid extra for this and frankly it was not worth it.
- If on Workhorse, make sure Bosch brake recall has been done.
- Layout worked well for us as we once travels cross country with 2 adults, 5 boys and a dog.
Good luck and safe travels!

I appreciate the honesty on the Workhorse. I've been bummed our's doesn't have it but then I stop and think to myself, "Will a different chassis that, in reality, I know nothing about really make my life that much better?"

Bought our 2000 35U in June 2014 with 93,000 miles on it It now has 106,000 with minimal problems. Did put new tires on it when we first got it. Love the layout.

We have a similar floor plan in our 2003 Adventurer 38G. Ours has a closet and washer/dryer across the back but otherwise is similar. We like the floor plan, lots of room in the bedroom and bath area. Price seems reasonable. Plan on about $20,000 with what ever you have to do and you should have a good motor home for many years.
