3D Printer Projects

3D printing is a hobby of mine and it has come in very handy a few times in the last couple of months when it comes to mods in my Sunstar.

The four projects so far:
1. Added a dedicated sound bar to the tv over the dinette
2. Added a bluetooth sound bar on the ledge behind the jack knife sofa (uses existing cup holder holes)
3. Stabilise the jack knife sofa arm rest & add a cup holder
4. Digital clock bracket for cab

The cup holder is prototype #2. I used it on our last trip and it worked out fine. Really helped to prevent movement of the arm rest. I already have a better one in the works (it will include a tv remote storage).

Where are the STL files located? Or do you not publish them?

To date I have not posted the STL files. The license agreement on the software I use for the 3D models/STL file generation is quite strict.

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you. I'm still working on an improved version of these cup holders and wouldn't be happy selling the design I currently have.

I used two printers for the prototypes so far (to speed things up). A FLSUN QQ-S-Pro and a QIDI X-Smart. My Creality Ender 3 would have been quite capable for the task, but it's been acting a little strange lately.

I've been using PLA+ filament so far and the parts have held up well (even through a South Carolina summer). When I finalise the design I will probably switch to ABS/ABS+. PETG would work, but it's too shiny for me.

Wow those look really neat, that is some talent and looks like a money maker, you better patent those designs, there is money to be made there I believe.

Thanks. Can't say I'm interested in making any money off of these things. When I come up with the final iteration of the arm rest stabiliser/cup holder I will make the .stl file available for free to whomever wants it.

As I mentioned above, I wanted to redesign the armrest cup holder (pictured in previous post). After having used it for a number of trips I felt it needed a couple of modifications. The first was to raise it up to make access a little easier. The second mod was to add cutouts so a mug with a handle would fit. Although not a design goal I was able to reduce the parts count to three.

Well, the revised design (see model below) is finished and the parts are printing beside me as I type. The design is not handed and will attach to either cushion. The three parts are glued together (I use E6000 Industrial Strength Adhesive from Home Depot).

I will make the .stl files (there are three) available to anyone who would like them, no charge, on the condition that it is for personal use only.

I'm hoping to post pictures of completed assembly in next couple of days.

Jim, I have the 3d printer and can be found on Amazon. Creality 3d printer
You can go to thingiverse.com and see all the pre-drawn objects you can print. There are other sites out there with .stl files also.

There are other 3d printers out there also that can fit the pocket book.

Hi Jim. Here are pictures of the two printers I am currently running on this project: an Artillery Sidewinder X1 & an Ender 3 V2. Both are available on Amazon or eBay and are reasonably priced.

What's the surface area on the Ender?

Edited: Just looked it up. All around about 3 inches smaller than the CR-10. I have heard that it is a good printer.

I wish i were a good CAD drawer and could make some of my own junk.

Ender 3 is an excellent printer, especially for the price. Am upgrading mine (using Ender Extender kit) to make it the same size as the Artillery (300mm x300mm).

Teach yourself CAD! That's what I did.

Took CAD for 1 semester in Junior College...wasn't good at it then and most likely not now.

Most times I can't draw stick men straight.
